Scriptnotes is a great podcast and has taught me a lot about screenwriting but holy shit the amount of preamble they do before they get to the episode subject is unbearable.

It feels like they are insecure enough about their writing that they feel like using AI is the thing they need to become better, but they’re realizing that it’s not having the social or career benefit they think being a “better” writer should come with so it’s just mean people being exclusionary.

Regarding the Horror Writers Association (HWA) newsletter promoting AI usage, why why why do people keep using the term "gatekeepers" to describe those opposed to the use of LLMs in writing and art? The true gatekeepers are the billionaire tech bros whose companies push to normalize AI usage. 1/

There’s something to the fact that if you were already boycotting Tim Horton’s & NYT in solidarity with Palestine then you’d be already be set for solidarity with trans folks impacted by those outlets. Palestine is a crisis and a moral litmus test for how you care for and about oppressed people.

Mark Carney has: -scrapped consumer carbon tax -scrapped oil/gas emissions cap -cut $1.3B from environment Canada -weakened industrial carbon pricing -axed 2 billion trees program -approved 1M barrels/day pipeline -weakened greenwashing laws While this is happening:

Five straight years warmer than anything observed before 2023 (Current record +1.53 degrees warming) en route to 2 degrees by 2030

🤖 Meta has signed an AI content licensing deal with Newsmax, giving the tech giant access to the right-wing network’s current reporting and more than two decades of archived material for Meta AI and search features across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

🔹The financial terms were not disclosed but Newsmax shares rose following the July 28 announcement. The deal expands Meta’s push to license real-time news from outlets across the political spectrum, following agreements with CNN, Fox News, USA Today, the Daily Caller, the Washington Examiner and others.

🔹The partnership has raised concerns because Newsmax repeatedly broadcast false claims that voting technology companies helped rig the 2020 election. The company later paid $40 million to settle Smartmatic’s defamation case and another $67 million to settle with Dominion.

🔹Critics warn that feeding material from outlets with documented records of spreading misinformation into widely used AI products could give false or misleading claims new reach and an appearance of authority.Bild

He's a primary aesthetic influence of this trans new wave that we are seeing. These filmmakers are not copying him, but working alongside his aesthetic ideas in a spiritual manner (the fantasia of People's Joker, the Inland Empire-esque nightmare of CM2, Schoenbrun's dysphoric otherworlds)

A lot of Trans people like Lynch bc his films are situated in a strange liminal place of reality and an abstracted alternate reality and they phase between one another. The inbetweenness is welcoming & potentially synonymous to a quotidian low-humming dysphoria. A wrongness that many of us recognize

You should not be surprised that Ford and Carney are making backroom deals with each other. Ford and Carney are teammates. Ford and Carney are both fruit from Harper's rotten, deeply fucked up tree. But you can't tell red team partisans anything. They are as ignorant and devoted as Trumpers.

Exactly as spelled out in Fortress Am-Can. Ontario's Bill 5 and Carney's Bill C5 make it all possible. www.ipolitics.ca/2025/12/18/c...

Not surprised that Fidel kept meeting with wrestlers considering he and Che were trained in lucha libre in Mexico by the legendary luchador Arsacio Vanegas, which honestly sounds made up but it’s not.

Wrestling is fantastic, because you can find a photo like this and in all honesty you can say, "yes, this depicts two men who both had trade meetings with Fidel Castro against the wishes of their governments".

The more I hear and see terms like “pdf file,” “corn,” “unalive,” etc. in their content creator context the closer I get to putting on the First Reformed vest.
