nice joke, lol, reminds me of this unrelated political thing i can’t stop talking about
ever since i've been around this space there's been a narrative of "(x viral success) proves The People want innovation!" and it almost always just leads to a series of increasingly craven imitators. you can't build a whole industry out of people trying to win the lottery. it's absurd.
i love how common the we need more games like [massive longshot million to one success] to save The Industry is as a take. sounds both sustainable and possible to plan for
The darker side of the UK microcomputer game boom of the mid-late 80s. The Games Machine magazine ran an exposé in March 1988 on the mass, systemic abuse of teenage programmers by developers and publishers, some as young as 14, with interviews from those involved.
truly the thing that stands out with Doom (and Half Life, and Quake, and Marathon, and--) is that we used to let level designers be bastarding little tricksters in a way that even the Good Level Design shooters of the 2010s onwards forgot
y'all ever just fucken play.... DOOM (1993)? y'all heard of this??
that one big article about how a bunch of americans were taught how to read wrong changed everything for me. now when i get a comment about something i never actually said i think oh, are you one of the kids that got taught three cueing instead of phonics? are you half guessing what i said
i have a feeling my steam page isnt gonna get approved but a girl can dream
it's a direct result of the death of blogs/criticism and the fascist reality we're living in. but i swear to god please never shove one of those indie game dev hustle grindset youtube channels into my face, i don't care what insight they have about getting visibility for your game on Steam
some high res despecholia screens cause i felt like it, there hasn't been a lot to show off lately as i haven't been feeling very great
Good news, my fellow Depth Dwellians! The developer of the in-development Depth Dwellers remaster, @trisoftlegacy.com,posted photos of the game's original box sample as well as the rare Spanish edition! Truly, we may live to see the day of the long-awaited Depth Dwellers big box rerelease. #awsome
found out that FANTAVISION 202X was pulled from the playstation store after only three years, so i fired it up this morning to see if i could get to the end credits. this game is super fun and honestly makes me drool a little. there are a lot of pretty colors to get lost in… 🤤
I enjoyed the live reaction immensely thank you Närcon crowd
my final chost before cohost shut down was kind of cheesy as fuck but I stand by it 100%. Everything's hard and it's so easy to get swept up in the nightmare, but there's things that make life worth living.
congratulations, with the help of Claude, now this game that you used to have to run through an emulator can now be run as a windows executable. aren't you so glad you can run pepsiman from an exe file instead of through an emulator now? wasn't that worth it? to have pepsiman.exe????
