This cruelty has no need but cruelty. Haiti remains deeply dangerous; a country in the throes of anarchy. Hundreds of thousands of people are SAFE. They are safe. They are safe here and the nation has decided to make them unsafe. We are embarking on a tragedy and we cannot look away. We cannot.

So many immigrants I've interviewed break down about this. "Monsanto Maler was one of several Haitian immigrants who traveled from Springfield for a check in...after an ankle monitor was attached to him, Maler was seen collapsing to the ground and crying." www.springfieldnewssun.com/local/hundre...

I’ll keep saying this until I can’t: I can’t think of a demographic whose vote is more critical than those who are ward of the government being elected. And no citizen should ever be stripped of their vote. This is the greatest lever for accountability and reasoned legislation I can think of.

NEW: Maine is one of 2 states that never strips people’s right to vote, and allows them to vote from prison. But in reality, logistical hurdles abound, & prisoners have organized hard for years to make sure everyone knows their rights. I learned a lot from this amazing reporting.

Israeli forces have launched a large-scale military operation in Qalandiya camp, surrounding the area from all entrances with a heavy military presence, including armed troops and bulldozers. During the raid, Israeli forces stormed homes, assaulted residents and journalists, and carried out arrests

Lebanon signed away its right to pursue legal action against Israel for its war crimes in southern Lebanon. Lebanon's deputy prime minister now says individual Lebanese citizens still have the right to bring cases against Israel before European courts. What a pathetic and weak government.
