I get a little annoyed by the coverage of the proposed sell-off of the World Cup. They’re not just planning to sell it off. They’re planning to sell it off *to the Trump family*. That should be up front and central.

I interviewed Andy Burnham in December about his rough sleeping target. He said he hadn’t been able to end it in GM because the Govt made it impossible. His argument will now be he has the levers to ensure a bed every night across the UK. A big pledge.

Commentators are quick to argue that the EU does not want the UK to rejoin. But that’s wrong. European politicians have repeatedly said that the EU would welcome the UK’s return. Both the UK and the EU stand to gain from it. Listen to the interview with French Ambassador Hélène Tréheux-Duchêne.

It's positive to hear these words from Andy Burnham, MP for Makerfield, particularly in a time when closer cooperation with Europe is more essential than ever. The current Government have made good progress on a deeper UK-EU relationship, but we must go further.
