A good day to remind you that if Mark Carney wants investment in important things (i.e. the knowledge economy), he could just do it. But instead he's cutting those things in favour of massive military spending while soliciting foreign ownership over Canada's future.

This is demonstrably, measurably improving the health of the people who live there. Most notably, it increases the respiratory *& cognitive* health of children. They literally do better in school. If this country really gave a shit about children, this would be at the top of the public-policy list.

New from me: Carney's US strategy continues to wish away the implications of the fact that Trump can't be trusted to keep his word. Trump's latest anti-Canada tariffs raise serious questions about Carney's strategy, and should force a discussion on the actual cost of Canadian autonomy.

For the better part of a year, Prime Minister Mark Carney has argued that, in the United States Canada Mexico Agreement (USMCA), Canada has “the best deal of any major U.S. trading partner.” Excuse the academic jargon, but this claim has always been bullshit. US President Donald Trump’s decision at the time not to impose tariffs on USMCA-compliant goods (we’ll ignore the illegal fentanyl tariffs loitering in front of the school) had nothing to do with the agreement because he doesn’t respect agreements, laws or treaties.

you don’t have to say nice things about lindsey graham we are past that cultural moment, largely thanks to the man he knew was one of the worst people alive and deliberately enabled at every turn he was a bad person and did awful things and you can just be honest about it
