This is heartbreaking. @kenjennings.bsky.social did so much damage and his actions caused a cascade that chased an innocent trans woman off the internet The fact that she has suffered all the consequences from his actions should make everyone stop and think about how privilege played out here

This just-released Canada Heritage survey is a stunning piece of anti-Palestinian propaganda weaponized vs. critics of the genocide at universities. It is a reprisal against the encampment movement. Look at the evidence of ‘antisemitism’: a prof calling Israel a Zionist project—as it attests to be.

As far as guy directors who are by all accounts more decent people than their colleagues but are too illiterate to notice how reactionary their own work is and who draw in extremely misogynist fans go, I don't like the work of either but at least Snyder's films are cooler to look at than Nolan's.

the ken jennings thing is pretty solid proof that this website is not in fact run by the transgender mob as people insist it is. his thread has literally thousands of positive interactions, has been shared hundreds of times, and his page looks like there's no issue, he's just posting as normal
this isn't very popular to say, but for me personally, it was good that i had unrestricted internet access when i was a minor. i was aware of what i was doing and enjoyed it. i don't look back on it and go "well that was a mistake", i look back on it and wish i could do it for the first time again

One of the most poisonous notions state monopoly on violence has hammered into people’s heads so hard it becomes almost impossible to dislodge is the idea that violence is inherently morally wrong. Violence is morally neutral. It’s its direction that determines its moral value.

Objectification of women and ensuring precarity of sex work so that it becomes a thing marginalised people are forced into and so that they have zero space for self expression and instead have to deal with abuse are so obviously the same thing it hurts how ignorant people are of this fact.
I actually think that the confusion over this question—the mistaken idea that perverts and preachers have opposing projects—is responsible for a lot of the stagnated and remedial quality of sexual politics discourses.
Moira Donegan@moiradonegan.bsky.social · 2d agoThere’s no contradiction between this kind of pornographic misogyny and puritanical misogyny of the old Christian right. Both use sexuality to enact men’s domination over women. That one sect forces sex and the other prohibits it is largely a matter of taste.
I've been out years. I dress like a giant faggot, never voice trained and still have no trouble coz hormones work - even when you transition in your 30s like I did. The people in their first couple of years, especially the isolated ones without access to DIY networks? This is real danger for them.
The pincer movement against access to healthcare and access to public space is an attempt to inflict that violence at the public level because we beat it back in the clinics. And it falls heavily on early transitioners. The most vulnerable of us.
Those of us who've been out a few years and can do this should be a bit less casual about this tbh. The Real Life Experience inflicted on us by gender clinics to get access to hormones was designed to kill people or force them back in the closet because these fuckers know hormones work.

Airport security looks back up at me when I hand them my passport. I have navigated life smoothly as a woman for years, and I am only endangered by the ideological fixations on denying that.
Transition works much better than cis people think it does. I have not had to assert myself or tell people what pronouns to use for me, unless I'm explicitly trusting them to use "xe/xer". And I use this nefarious ability to blend in among cis women to live my fucking life and piss in peace.

When your part time job/side hustle is exploiting an economy successfully to the detriment of others, don't expect me to believe you don't understand how that economy works.
I don't believe rage baiters are ignorant of the realities here any more than I believe that landlords online claiming that they "make homes available" while driving up house prices for first time buyers by buying out whole areas are ignorant of what they're doing.
I think what people are missing is that the rage bait economy Stancil makes a living out of depends on the amount of attention he gets from being outrageously wrong online and angering people who are hurt by his bad takes.
Will Stancil framing this idea as about aristocratic frugality rather than poor people being simply unable to afford the lower cost tariffs on existence available to the rich underlines how he's cemented his position as a professional idiot for hire.

Which is also, not coincidentally, why they're angrier about people wanting the Epstein files released than they are at their contents: because they see the victims as either the rightful property of their abusers, or as ownerless property that the abusers were free to claim.
But when it comes to their own wives, children and, frequently, staff members, in the same way that they'd be outraged if vandals trashed a shed on their property but would feel wholly justified in trashing it themselves, their concerns re: sexual violence begin and end with Who Owns That Person.
