You’d get on the freeway, drive for a while until you were like, “hmm not sure if I’m close to where I’m going???”, take an exit, stop at a gas station, ask a man in a plaid parka how much farther it is, sometimes he’d pull out a map, or he’d want to talk to you about Jesus, it was a different time

Can’t lie, the fact that y’all were driving with PAPER maps is insane. Even worse, you had to ask random strangers for directions??

I don't know if you've spent much time as a professional sick person, but about 80% of the time when a health care professional is "sir'ing me, they aren't trying to be respectful or kind; they're pissed off that I won't consent to, like, putting in a PICC without proper pain control

I was listening to El Paso radio yesterday and almost every time they mentioned the $1k you could theoretically win, it was like, “take care of that electric bill” or “finally replace that phone you dropped a year ago and the screen is completely cracked and it barely works”

Yeah. I always look at them and say, “In this economy?” which usually cracks them up and often opens the door for me to ask them what actionable things can we discuss. But like “lower your stress” when one of the things stressing me out is seeing the big capitalism trap of “can’t take time off”?

My mission is simple: pretend I am on the show Leverage and I’m breaking into the mainframe, but I only have twenty minutes before I will be kicked out of the system.
