I think we need to actually restate how wild it is how much anti trans activism there is, and the extreme degree. We're getting two high court decisions on trans rights today alone that have huge consequences for trans people's lives (strip searching and puberty blockers). In one DAY

In a country where government officials label kids books about feeling different bc your shadow is a different color, @scarleteen.com 's writers -- every single one -- are dissidents.
But the UK and the USA are telling us that it is up to the government to determine what your body looks like and even what hormone levels are appropriate in your blood.
You've got good reasons to tell Scarleteen to shut up, and better ones not to be personally invested in reading them. I get it. And you've got good reasons you don't care about trans health care. Maybe you're confident you'll never need it or maybe you just think we have to liberate the 99% first.
Because most of you don't want to hear Scarleteen. You're not teenagers, they're not writing for you, & maybe you're feeling like whatever is important right now, helping teens understand sex is not only not the most important issue, but it's too provocative & thus makes real issues harder to solve.
This idea that being a dissident means having people desperate to hear your words but denied them is harming our ability to perceive just how far down the road to fascism the US and the UK have travelled.

It is easy to jump to worst case scenarios, but vulvar sores can come from lots of things, like irritation, injury, skin conditions or growths. This situation is getting even worse because of the proliferation of generative AI, which scrapes sites (including Scarleteen) and vomits up garbage and sometimes actively dangerous responses. A lot of users are coming in with truly wild and horrific misinformation. Scarleteen is all people, not AI!
