It may not be surprising, but it's nevertheless sad to see a Canadian newspaper trumpet Washington's call to demolish the #ICC, and siding with impunity for Putin, Netanyahu, and the Taliban. This is now part of the right's firmament, along with anti-trans politics and Residential School denialism.

Conservative politicians have been trying for decades to do this; they fought tooth and nail to prevent universal health from happening in the first place, and created the National Citizens Coalition to attack it ever since. Oh, and it's first President? One Stephen Harper. And THERE you have it.

I made dinner for my abuser a bunch of times. You have to play nice while you're planning your escape so you don't get dead. Max Miller is a textbook abuser.

Shout out to the all the Canadians suddenly wondering, "Wait... Are we.. Poland?!" And trying to calculate when the US runs out of money. And yes, fashy policies destroy economies, and make countries run out of money. I'm not debating y'all on this. Yes, even countries as rich as the US.

Agreed. I'm referring specifically to the timing. In other words, why 1939 instead of the originally planned 1943? For others: To finance the nazi economy, Hitler had been running a ponzi scheme where he issued Metallurgische Forschungsgesellschaft bills (MeFo bills).🤡 The scam lost steam in 1939.

As for literature, these two books written in english *might* be good starting points. Obviously I've not read any of them. Richard Overy - War and Economy in the Third Reich Adam Tooze - Wages of Destruction: The Making and Breaking of the Nazi Economy

Chris Alexander was one of the architects of the Conservative plan for a Barbaric Cultural Practices snitch line, so running for mayor of Canada’s most diverse city is certainly a choice. Fun Fact: Stephen Lecce was a Harper spokesperson at the time. Here he is weaseling out of any accountability.

You were in that role during the unveiling of the so-called barbaric cultural practices tipline. What on earth was the thinking there?

My focus as a conservative is uniting our movements around economic aims. When we lose focus on that, my priority is unleashing the economic potential of individuals and small businesses.

"Go comment at your local government meeting" is common advice given to people angry the many injustices they face on the ground. But local governments often treat the public with contempt, and set up as many obstacles as possible to reduce possibility of rooms full of people denouncing them...

The multi-billionaire CEO of Shopify thinks a “good system” is one where the poor don’t get to vote in elections and the rich get to vote several times over. I wish I was kidding. Oh, and guess what? This guy and his pals are trying to influence our politics -- and they're arguably succeeding:

Sorry to be a downer, but we don't talk about this enough. Settler colonial societies are structured around the abandonment of children at every level, and white settlers have embraced this at the personal level. There is no sense of community responsibility, you're just on your own.

It is weird how public services like Universal Healthcare which many Europeans have had for generations are seen as Radical, Extreme and Dangerous in the USA. Almost feels like an entire country has been lied to that services which will improve their lives are something to be scared of.

My great-grandfather was among the first Jews sent to Dachau, but it had operated for 8 years prior. He arrived to find a concentration camp already full of communists and other leftist dissidents. The public's acceptance of their incarceration paved the road for his own.

fascists use anti leftism to build power and co opt centrists and liberals. they are doing this right now! this is what all the gibberish anti communist rhetoric is about!
