rewatched the 1991 cape fear for the first time since... well, the 90s, and i gotta say: i do not think i like it. might be marty's worst. also laughed super hard at max reporting the lawyer to "the ABA for disbarment" and them having an emergency disciplinary hearing like you fuckin wish

I am anti-AI because: -it has ruined the public internet -it is shoehorned into everything for any reason with no use case -all of the advertising and pushers make it seem like it wants to take from me (job, livelihood) with no clear tradeoff -proponents are some of the worst people imaginable

the thing about cinema discusso is that it’s a subforum for people who lack basic media literacy but also think they’re smarter than everyone else

I feel like being extremely online can warp your brain and make you behave in really narcissistic or paranoid ways. I’ve seen it, and I’ve gone through it a bit myself. What’s important is you remember who you actually are deep down. In my case, this is pretty much it.

Analysts estimate that 70%+ of Microsoft, Google and Amazon's present and future AI revenues are from Anthropic and OpenAI's compute spend and model sales. Outside of two unsustainable AI labs, demand barely exists, and they've massively overbuilt capacity. www.wheresyoured.at/the-ai-deman...

the mainstream press praising rod liddle in death are not unaware he was a bigoted pedophile, they like him for it. the people in their in-group, at the top of their hierarchy, getting away with crimes signals that the world is in order. it is a moral good, to them. the bigger the crimes the better

cop: did he send any texts around the time of the crash? cop 2: he sent a post that reads "padding my three track album with 26 skits and interludes" cop: not bad but it ain't going viral cop 2: posting isn't just about going viral cop: (sighs) not this shit again

It is funny that as more people get duped by AI, the response more frequently seems to be to insist that the models are developing godlike intelligence and we all need to be sooo careful when the real lesson is clearly that the human psyche can get absolutely one-shotted by personalized flattery
