This makes me think about all the ways online classes undermine our work. The idea that people can learn on their own is so pernicious. Education and learning are social activities! If they didn't need me, they wouldn't need college!

Annie was a victim of pile-on of misreadings today. Annie has done more to elucidate the failures of standardized testing & its EdTech partners than anybody. The accusation that she doesn’t know what she’s talking about can only come from those who profoundly don’t know what they’re talking about.

i like that their methodology would classify someone making $150k as working class if they don't have a college degree, but someone making 50k who has a college degree isn't.

The people running these companies believe that climate change could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a fringe worry. Publicly, many executives soften their language to sound reasonable, but privately, the fear is real. No other industry poses this level of danger to civilization.

I resigned from ExxonMobil today. I spent the last three years doing fossil fuel extraction research at both BP and ExxonMobil. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing to maximize extraction while the window to act closes, and gambling with our lives. More below.
