A couple of weeks ago I rode to Newburyport MA and saw this COVID memorial and realized this is the only one I have ever seen anywhere. And the fact that I nearly broke down seeing it is something I still think about.

For those who died and those who survived and all we list during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I'm watching my partner play Winter Burrow and we're pretty sure the toad is meant to have a Geordie accent. (The developer is Danish but the dialogue quirks + flat cap are giving very strong vibes.) Kinda reminds me of playing Ni no Kuni 2 and realizing there was a whole village with Hull accents.

Hello I have made this due to a mutual having issues with some folks on here forgetting this fact and shouting at him for it. Feel free to use it as a handy PSA x

A crappy photoshop paint image with a red star on blue, in comic sans is the message 'some people on the internet aren't American'

I got Covid for the *first time* a few weeks ago and let me tell you, please fucking test before you go to an event. Don't be that asshole. And if you are positive stay the fuck home. Some performers and event folks can't mask. The least we can do is test, the best we can do is mask. ✨

There's always a non-negligible number of folks that go from SDCC to GenCon. I hate to break it to you, but COVID is still a thing, conventions are still super spreaders, and you should still test and wear masks if you care about community at all!

Hello! For a potential piece on Eurogamer, I would love to know what cool little things people in and around games are working on. Not full games, but fun, interesting, weird projects or side projects. Things you're noodling around with, things you just think are neat. Replies/reposts very welcome!

My own friends are through the wedding phase but my partner is younger than me and SO MANY of his friends and family members are getting engaged and married. Next year there are two couples getting married in the same week! At least it makes it easier to decide when to go to England.

The Ghost in the Shell RPG, based on the original manga, has just gone live on Backerkit. I co-wrote and co-designed this game alongside Alessio. I’ve seen quite a bit of buzz around the Synthesis Conflict system which is really great as that was one of my main contributions 😄 Check it out:

If you run a festival, a convention, a regular event or an organisation, & you'd like me to give a talk on one of my nonfiction books' topics (tabletop games, anxiety, creative writing) or do a poetry set or teach a creative writing workshop, please message me here or via my website. I'd love to.

This is not a dig at this reporter or this story, which is fine, but the Canadian media as a whole has transitioned seamlessly from decades of mostly ignoring and downplaying the climate emergency to ”here’s how to cope with the apocalypse.” It’s infuriating.

Climate anxiety caused her to switch career paths. How this existential angst is affecting young Canadians

Existential eco distress is affecting Canadians’ life decisions, and can spiral into hopeless ‘doomerism.’ Experts share how to manage it.

Dreaming about home décor is way more fun than scheduling contractors and filling out paperwork. I would like to move to that stage, please. Completely unrelated, but I will happily take reading recommendations for architecture and décor within Art Nouveau/Arts and Crafts/Liberty Style/Jugendstil.
