Ronald Knox's 10 Commandments of Detective Fiction is really funny because it's mostly "here's all the shit i wish detective stories would stop doing" and one of them is just "orientalism" because detective novels back then loved going "the killer was an evil chinese" (TW slur, it was the 20s)

sure it features a lot of QoL updates that make it easier for new players to get into, but i feel like it makes enough deviations from the original in terms of plot and characterization to still warrant playing through the original
