Yet another tech worker who bemoans capitalism. Sorry! There are a lot of us! I help maintain fennel-lang, a smol lisp that embeds in all the things. Always trawling for new music, esp. avant-anything. He/they works 🤷

I’m done saying “this sucks, what a bummer”, Brooklyn Vegan and Revolver were both daily website visits for me at one point and I’m tired of having everything good killed in the service of a few extra pennies in quarterly return. Solidarity with everyone impacted.

“Music publications BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Revolver, and Goldmine have been gutted by parent company Veeps... Nearly all the staff at each publication appear to have been laid off yesterday. Veeps, which is now owned by Live Nation, acquired the publications in 2024 or 2025”

in the 2025 federal election, Canada’s federal parties spent a combined $96M CAD on advertising. Haley Stevens spent $84M CAD on a single primary election. Michigan has 1/4 the population. Was Michigan carpet bombed, just ankle deep in Haley Stevens literature? Hard to fathom the scale.

Hilarious to mention the thin margins and disappearing gap in the polls without also mentioning this. I mean, completely expected from Politico and every publication like it. But pulling out it off with a SuperPAC-driven 9-to-1 spending ratio is absolutely a "big election night"

For the past five months the only refugees the USA has accepted are white South Africans fleeing equality & safety meanwhile they are disappearing or strapping ankle monitors on any Haitian they can get ahold of. It needs to be understood how thoroughly connected these two things are.

If you think there was outrage for Christopher Nolan casting a Black woman as Helen of Troy and a Trans man as Sinon Just wait till they figure out what the movie was actually about Oooooh boy

The disconnect is that black people know non-black people are racist af to the point that they will NOT vote for the best candidate, so Black Americans are forced to be pragmatic and vote around the racism of their fellow citizens.

Sometimes I think, “oh shit. My writing sounds like tweaked Gen AI.”🤖 And nope. That’s backwards. GenAI sounds like a ghost of my writing because they trained the LLMs on piles and piles of work they stole without permission from writers like me.

Jesse@jaawerth.bsky.social · 2d ago

I don't think it's solely a function of people being unread. The prevalence of LLM slop just has everyone doubting *everything* and looking for patterns, enough to ignore or forget that some of these patterns are craft, and the LLM's do it because that's what they trained on

TFW you photograph a vinyl cover for Discogs, but don't remove the shrinkwrap, thus preserving your likeness and environs for posterity in multiple online music databases

Cover art for Cluster album Zuckerzeit, recently repressed by Bureau B. The cover has a black background with CLUSTER at the top and "ZuckerZeit" in large red cursive script, sparkly and luminous, right below it.

Because shrinkwrap is still on album and it has a black background, the rest of the cover is very mirror-like. As a result, the reflection of the person taking the photo is visible with their phone. Appears to be a bearded man with shoulder-length dreadlocks

His desk is visible, as are some items in the background. The wall has some posters and CD's hung, plus what I think might be other LP's.

The effective federal corporate income tax rate: 1950: 50% 1990: 25% 2020: 13% Stop asking "but how we will pay for it?" Restore the corporate tax rate. That is how we will pay for it.

What the actual fuck? She was gracious the whole time?? This has to be the most egregious one of these to date It better not be for "coordinated harassment" because she mildly pointed out how badly she's been misrepresented in and erased from media stories + harassed, and people got mad(der) at Ken

Well, it appears that, sometime in the last 17 hours, Gwen Pepperoni was suspended for the crime of pointing out Ken Jennings' transphobia.
