When Carter closed the Kellogg Park encampment he was there in person helping people.
Trying to score compassion and competency points by monitoring encampments sweeps from a fancy city hall command center like she's in the White House situation room is pretty gross!

And this is not the first time here. In 1956 the City of St Paul evicts the residents of Swede Hollow, a railroad shantytown on downtown's eastern edge. 1000's of immigrants from many backgrounds had lived in this place since 1850. The homes are then burned to the ground by the Fire Department.
Convinced Kaoly Her is going ahead with this encampment sweep this morning despite almost everyone in the know telling her to delay because she thinks she’d otherwise appear politically weak. It’s awful of the mayor to put vulnerable people at greater risk just to try and save her political career.

Kat Donnelly, a nurse with Healthcare for the Homeless, spent Tuesday scrambling to refill medications and make sure patients knew where to find her ahead of the Pig's Eye Park encampment closure Wednesday morning.
Angie Craig is going to pull lots of votes from the “addled suburban retirees” and “cute AI cat video” fans. You HAVE to outwork people’s stupidity and bring out new voters. And not just anyone, because many people are median voters (a.k.a. morons). Only bring people out once you talk to them.
the lesson of tonight is that everyone needs to lock the fuck in for @peggyflanagan.bsky.social
Based on the overwhelming consensus that I’ve heard in both public feedback and private conversations from government officials, service providers, encampment residents, and public health experts, I do not believe we are prepared to responsibly close the encampments beginning tomorrow.
St. Paul prepares to clear homeless encampment amid questions
On July 8, citing a growing number of fires, fatal overdoses and reported sexual assaults, St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her announced plans to close the city’s three largest homeless encampments on a rolling...

I’m sure this will be filled with prescreened softball questions. Because otherwise, I would be in the Mayorbunker trying to find ANY supportive constituency to advance my agenda.
Ha - a friend just forwarded this to me. I’m shocked she would still do this given, y’know, everything…. www.stkate.edu/oshaughnessy...
CORRECTION: St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her skipped out on a community listening session about the August 5 sweep of the Pig's Eye encampment. Justin Ford turned to Assistant Mayor Cedrick Baker and asked him directly: 🔗👇
The Assistant Mayor is Cedrick BAKER, not “Cedrick Benson.” bsky.app/profile/cedr...
SPPD is keeping observers and responders from bringing in food to the encampments. People’s only homes are being torn apart. The Mayor of Saint Paul is posting NNO pics with wealthy White constituents. She is cussing on meetings with @leighfinke.bsky.social and others. Basta ya, Kaohly Her.
Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.
Sources tell me Tom is stable please God
😳 Rep. Pete Stauber indicates there's something gravely wrong with Tom Emmer's health: "You have no idea what Congressman Emmer is dealing with right now. If you did, you would've never made that comment. He's fighting for his damn life today!"
Normies may not be able to admit to struggle, but here’s the thing: I’m not a normie. I have a home that’s slowly falling apart and barely enough money to weather a few dental cavity fillings, let alone an emergency. Can’t get approved for new credit and don’t want more debt. So yeah, I struggle.
On social media, a broad consensus is that you can’t admit to struggle — at least not while you’re struggling. Doing so represents a failure so profound it’s almost existential. How did it become mandatory to demonstrate perpetual growth and progress online?
It’s ironic that the presumptive CD5 GOP nominee is an Iraqi defector journalist who happens to be some kind of “counterterrorism expert”. I guess she wanted to lose by Ba’ath party margins one more time.
Fuck the McMahons. College is not a branch of the capital machine!
President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/aaAEu6v
Folks, we’ve got a potential old-fashioned “Aunties” situation on our hands!
A year later: Bubble Line Brewing’s website now says “We think you'll be able to chill with us in 2027!”
Kaohly Her should still resign. On top of her being a sex pest and a bully, she believes in nothing. She did not sign an eviction extension during peak Metro Surge, she has no plan for housing, hasn’t joined any large city council efforts, and she never took a stance on anything during the campaign.

🧵On @thenewsagents.co.uk yesterday, school closures and the lab leak theory were offered as two examples of legitimate questions that were hard to ask. Both have in fact been asked constantly since 2020. But here's a thread on why I think they were wrong and dangerous on school closures 1/12
Covid lockdowns demonstrated, in a deeply imperfect way, the possibility of large-scale social solidarity for a higher cause. That is a prime reason why so many powerful people want us to run screaming away from them into the comforting arms of selfish individualist competition.
I agree strongly with this -- in that difficult moment, the possibility of collective effort was conceivable. Not everybody felt it, but many did. I think the political class did not like this one bit.

The diarrhea lettuce company, Taylor Farms, uses slave labor contracted from the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. The backbreaking labor is often performed by imprisoned Mexican nationals who would be otherwise ineligble to work in the US. They are paid $1.50 an hour.
The Diarrhea Lettuce Company Has Been Linked to Forced Labor
The lettuce-producing Taylor Farms was linked to the widespread use of prison labor before its involvement in a cyclospora outbreak.

abolitionists were armed. The Panthers were armed. You do not need to flatten movement history to make a prudential point and then demonize anyone who criticizes you as a walmart arsonist
