I kicked back with Hot Shots Part Deux today. This really made the Scary Movie boys think this shit was easy. Loads of well crafted jokes and moments and a dramatic energy that stays out of the way while still keeping it moving.

Today, I have the phrase "subsequent lavatarians" circling me, like a plane in bad weather at Heathrow.
Family group chat had photos of niece and nephew in solar system shirts today, shirts that are modern and omit Pluto. Can't stop saying "look how they massacred my boy" out loud this morning.
"I know. I know you're rising faster than the cost of inflation. I know, and it breaks my heart. It breaks my heart."
Thrilled to get back to this pulp B-movie of mine. www.patreon.com/jimslater/po...

Down in the alley’s darkness the air felt older somehow. The implacable coldness of the backs of ancient houses surrounded her. Time elipsed

We men need to be upfront about our biggest fears. For me? It's Godzilla. He's fucking massive.
Every meal since has just been chasing the high of my primary school's cheese flan followed by the icing sponge cake with sprinkles. Nothing has ever hit that combo.
Happy Clerksday to me; I've now lived 37 years. "In a row?"
This is where you end up when you work to convince yourself leftist and anarchsit politics is a privileged middle class white pursuit.
“white privilege” ?????
Amazing how great Miles looks in stylistic choices that would make any other man look like the biggest jerk in the world.
It's assumed a misspent youth involves joyrides and breaking windows, but that's exactly what kids should be doing. A truly misspent youth was what I got up to: rewatching the Whoopi Goldberg film Sister Act from 1992.
Watched some of the old Disney cartoon Recess for comfort and "whomps" for something sucky is my favourite fake pop culture slang. I like it as much as I dislike every made up word in Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns.

3/3 medical professionals, on learning I have shingles, have responded by letting me know it's very painful. Is it, mate? Thanks for telling me.
As much as I’ve always hated Mitch McConnell, I’ve been so impressed with the example he’s set for his fellow Republicans in recent weeks. More of them should be exactly like he is right now.
Apt new cover art for a pointless 2026 compilation in variants, swiftly tailored to make a grab for the retirement cash of a dying demographic. Four cardboard cutouts of some guys who may have meant something once in a featureless wasteland of branded IP.
Never ever give quarter to conservatives. Never reach over to them. Never feat. on their albums. They win by pretending to be reasonable.
The example being "Yeah stick to your decision there or you'll end up a needy whiner like this guy."

In Herzog's (excellent) Nosferatu, they call Count Orlok by Dracula's name. Which isn't right, imo, Orlok is a very different character, not just his Wisborgian non-Union equivalent.
If you see this, post a vampire that isn't Dracula

Finding Antony & Cleopatra a hotter, more romantic play than the post-adolescent view of love as offered by Romeo & Juliet on first read. Greatly helped by the character of Cleopatra having a personality.
One year ago this week we lost the great writer Kaleb Horton. I am still very sorry that I won't ever get to read anything new by him ever again. Today his partner @katehascats.bsky.social joins us to write about her experience of loss and grief.

[Doesn’t listen to radio] [Keeps AirPods in when in public spaces] [Listens to the same Spotify playlist every day] How can that song be a hit? I’ve never even heard it!
Tempted to stop redecorating there. Stylish and conceptual feeing.
"Man, they're going to turn me into the old me..." CUT TO: Me, staggering drunkenly before I slip pathetically in my own vomit and collapse on to the road

I'm as surprised as anyone, but, once again, the greatest show of all time is the 1997 Craig Charles pirate sitcom Captain Butler.
With the extremely honourable exceptions of Prince & Leonard Cohen, I don't need my cis-het songwriters on the topic of being horny. Saying that, I listened to the Ed Sheeran songs I like and, even with that allowance made, the way the guy writes about about vanilla sexuality kind of grosses me out.
