Minneapolis politics and other stuff. Food systems. Community support. Whatever else I can think of. they/them De Dakota Makoče

i don't believe the negative ads angie craig/her north star dawn PAC are drowning minnesotans in will be able to overcome righteous anger at ICE. that is what is motivating people to vote, along with affordability. like how high caucus turnout was also good for peggy flanagan & got her DFL endorsed

Look who made the paper! We had such a great time talking to Briana Bierschbach at the Minnesota Star Tribune. Operation Metro Surge showed us the Power of the People can be a light in the greatest darkness. You all inspired me to throw myself into this race! tinyurl.com/BeccaInThePa...

Volunteer network born during immigration crackdown becomes Democratic organizing force

Minnesotans who organized bus stop escorts and grocery deliveries during the immigration crackdown are now becoming party delegates, campaign volunteers and even candidates for office.

it's funny how americans don't like subsidized groceries like this because that is big scary socialism, but turn around and clamor for businesses to provide them free parking... when the cost of that parking is being subsidized by everyone, including non drivers, as they'll just rise prices

Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

anders folk is using footage from lake & bloomington raid in his ads featuring people who actually showed up to the scene to defend their neighbors who do NOT support his campaign folk obvs has no footage of himself there and his campaign shouldn’t be bolstered by these brave minneapolis residents

My photo is being used in a campaign ad for Anders Folk. It will come as a surprise to literally no one who has ever met me - I am not supporting his bid Hennepin County Attorney. I've asked that my photo be removed from all materials, & reported the ad. If you see the video, please report it, thx!

Today we observe Porajmos (Roma Holocaust) Remembrance Day. on the night of 2–3 August 1944, 2,897 Roma were murdered at the Zigeunerfamilienlager at Auschwitz-Birkenau. We remember them and the half a million Sinti and Roma murdered by Nazi Germany and fascist collaborators. Na Bistaren.

West Coast cities are caught in a doom loop where the problem keeps growing but political elites refuse to admit that solving it requires more funding. Every few years someone comes along promising to "finally" crack down, gets elected and fails to deliver. That would have been worth writing about.

He ends by implying that this is an easy problem to solve if we could just drop our left-wing ideology long enough to finally impose consequences on homeless people and addicts. Not only is this unconstitutional, it's also incredibly expensive! Either way we're providing housing and services.

Bild

Powell interviews a local anti-homeless ghoul who notes that encampment sweeps don't result in meaningful change because homeless people just return a few days later. Yes, Michael. What is the solution to this? We should just incarcerate them forever for being homeless?

Bild

"Hey, have you thought about arresting drug users?" isn't a bold new idea, it is what we did for decades — and are still doing. Powell even admits this: The new mayor is doing encampment sweeps... Just like the last mayor. And the one before that.

Bild

The core argument is that cities like Seattle are so addled by left-wing ideology that they have fallen into dystopia. In reality, the city has never adequately funded harm reduction programs and continues to rely on incarceration to address homelessness. What Powell wants is what we're doing.

angie craig’s instagram story features a farmer flying the old minnesota state flag, 2 years after we adopted a new one the last thing we need in 2026 is a senator who wants to drag the DFL rightward and appeal to the regressive culture warriors who use the old flag as a symbol

it’s a good day to remind yourself that you are a mammal, and all animals are going to want to move slow and conserve energy in this heat give yourself some grace and drink some water

We have to be able to reach across the aisle, says Angie Craig in her MPR debate closing statement, and indeed she has already proven with her votes in Congress that she will cooperate with the Trump administration. I don’t know how this is a selling point.
