today is the date in ray bradbury's story "there will come soft rains", about an automated house fruitlessly carrying out its daily routine for a family long since incinerated in a nuclear war. this is an extremely soviet russian adaptation that goes way out in its own direction. really interesting

here's a very random question: why is it that Google Maps hides Brighton? attached are several screengrabs that show it displaying much smaller places but not Brighton, you have to zoom in soooo much to get it to appear, it's so weird?
Many, many years ago I worked for a certain legal news website to which Lindsey Graham subscribed. Anyway i hardcoded it to always spell his name wrong in the top corner, no matter how many times he tried to manually correct it.
Did I recommend this book? I recommend this book. It asks questions about consciousness, the importance of communication and most importantly: how the fuck do you talk to octopodes? Turns out, it's pretty difficult.
