Leftist. Comic geek. Superhero movies should all be animated. 26. He/Him.

There WILL BE less people like Patrick Stewart or Dolly Parton, given widening wealth inequality, loss of jobs in creative sector, austerity, privatisation of education (especially arts) & financial exclusion. Art of the near future will be less diverse & restricted to the privileged few.

Patrick Stewart's passing feels a whole hell of a lot like Dolly's. It's hard to imagine that singular talents found in people born in the working class or working poor will get fostered the ways theirs were. The things that nurtured those talents have been stripped for profit by assholes.

Massive part of my teenage years now getting an adaptation. Never thought this would happen. Cannot tell you how many hundreds of hours I spent with this novel. Will be buying every single variant.

Post-Trek, Koenig struggled to land roles. He turned to writing and found it an outlet that helped his mental health. But the man could ACT. He was given the opportunity to prove that with Babylon 5. Koenig speaks with unabashed fondness of B5, welcomed as an equal and given juicy character work.

I'm never more of a USA USA THESE COLORS DON'T RUN BUD, COME AND TAKE IT type when I hear about discourse regarding media censorship in the UK. goddamn. and I don't consider myself an especially strict free speech absolutist either.

the latest story I heard that's actually indicative of what your average person with psychosis faces is this. 24-year-old with schizophrenia was stable, thriving until he apparently encountered bad symptoms, and died horribly for it. and then everybody ridiculed his death, including the US president

Jeepers Creepers feels like a bad Vampirella story if she never showed up to solve the problem. Choosing to believe Vampi and Pendy killed this guy in the 70s. (Watched this blind, pulled from a list of slashers, did *not* know that stuff about the director, would not have watched if I knew.)

Read the harder-than-hard sci-fi The Forever War recently (amazing book, must read for any SF fan), and since it came out in the 70s, there's a Rhine test for psi-sensitivity that several members of his platoon aced.

it is still so fucking funny to me that to understand a huge chunk of AMerican pop culture you need to remember that a bunch of people were just positive that ESP and psychic powers were, like, real

When you are in a movie theater, you are silent. You do not talk unless somebody's life is in danger. You do not whisper. You do not pull out your phone. The post-COVID destruction of movie theater etiquette is awful. Probably won't see a movie in theaters for a few months.

I watched the Waiting for Gorgo short. For all that this short clearly wants to poke fun at a 'silly old monster movie', the idea that the British government could successfully cover up the events of Gorgo (1961) is sillier than anything in the actual movie it's riffing on.

The YouTube AI generated chapter summaries are so obnoxious, I had to install an extension just to get rid of them. What a terrible idea. Want to watch this movie or video? Don't worry, we'll spoil everything that happens for you.

Hippolyta is, when not written by rabid misogynists, normally one who rules with the enthusiastic consent of her subjects and speaks on functionally equal terms with almost all of them. She exerts considerable authority, sure. (I also saw someone saying Diana would be transphobic - go to hell lmfao)

i suspect most superheroes would have insane nonsense politics. like, wonder woman is an absolute monarchist. thor doesn't believe in the separation of church and state. clark kent is just bob dole.
