I’ve been screening our documentary with organizing communities in the South. So far, the organizers mention data centers first at every single event. From racial justice orgs to old school activists who don’t usually think about tech policy. This has legs.

BREAKING: Maryland Democrats voted 96-38 to pass a bill that would change the rules for lawmakers to draw the state's congressional map. If the measure is approved by the Senate and then voters, it could clear a path to dismantle the state's lone red district in time for the 2028 election.

The True Texas Project and Young Republicans are hosting multiple events in Texas next month with the head of a self-styled white nationalist "think tank," the White Papers Policy Institute. WPPI promotes mass deportations and "remigration." It has strong ties to major white nationalist groups.

Jim Crow 2.0 doesn't have poll taxes. They just get rid of polling places to make it much harder for you to vote, and kick you off the voter rolls for 'reasons' without telling you. Voter suppression is racism. If a candidate isn't talking about voting rights, they aren't paying attention.

The NAACP has released a statement while the Tarrant County Commissioners Court considers a proposal today that would cut the number of Election Day polling locations nearly in half "Let's call this what it is… voter suppression"

Tarrant County, Texas, could see around 50 percent fewer polling locations in November's election.

"Let's call this what it is… voter suppression," said NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson. "Cutting nearly half the places where people can cast a ballot doesn't save democracy money, it costs voters their voice. Tarrant County is home to a significant number of Black and Latino voters and is a majority people-of-color county. There is no question that this plan strips away polling access on a scale that will hit Black and Brown voters hardest. That is not a coincidence. It’s an intentional assault on our ability to make our voices heard and we will push back with every tool available.”

🚨 BREAKING: Tarrant County, TX is trying to eliminate HALF of their polling locations ahead of the midterm elections. This isn't about budget constraints, this is about denying Black voters and voters of color equal access to the polls! But that won't happen on our watch.

In TX: Tarrant County Judge Tim O'Hare just CLEARED the meeting room, kicking out public speakers who are opposed to the GOP plan to cut half of the battleground county's Election Day voting locations for November:

Remember when conservatives told us we couldn’t subsidize electric cars because it would overburden our electric infrastructure? Data centers want 5x more power than Texas has ever provided at peak demand. Now Abbott is scrambling to do damage control. www.tomshardware.com/tech-industr...

Texas slams on the brakes for 1,800 data centers, power grid requirements are five times higher than peak record demand — 474 gigawatts of power requests are now subject to new moratorium

Where will they get all that power?

When President Trump sharply reduced the size of Bears Ears National Monument in Utah by more than 1.2 million acres, he claimed it was necessary because recreation was virtually impossible within the site’s boundaries. Documents reviewed by The New York Times show officials knew otherwise.

"don't make enough money" is a fig leaf All those degree programs--social work, art, etc.--have disproportionately female student bodies. This is designed to make it harder for women to attend college--college education being a key factor in women's autonomy from men & left-leaning voting pattern.

President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/aaAEu6v
