Went through the exciting steps of setting up our Steam Partner account today - we will soon be able to start talking about the game we have been making for over a year! Very exciting - can’t wait to start talking more about it.

A bit like how Cameron, Osborne et al were absolutely clueless in the EU referendum campaign, because they had never had to campaign *against* the British press in full rend-and-kill mode, and that meant there was nobody to very publicly beat the fuck out of their opponents on their behalf.

Collapse in Farage's approval rating could spell the end for the Reform revolution

On any project devs/designers can return to a particular line of code or implementation that THEY put in and still need a good 20 mins to work out why it was done that way. Imagine an entire new team attempting that with the entire project. Destroying teams is pure vandalism.

As someone else put it to me earlier this year when discussing the Xbox layoffs, it's like picking away at the threads in a blanket until the whole thing unravels. www.gamedeveloper.com/production/-...

This IS good news! Thimbleweed Park is so good. Played it on mobile but it FELT like cracking a chunky old Lucasarts box and firing up the “house” 486 (complementary). It doesn’t rest on nostalgia though. Fantastic puzzles. Sparkling writing. A joy.

I think this says a lot about how art makes us feel and how we engage and interact with it. What resonates and what doesn't. Also, there's that classic saying: You have your whole life to make your first season/movie/whatever, and six months to make your second.

So, for some reason, we're still talking about a movie no one likes and will tank at the box office to the tune of three quarters of a *billion* dollars in less than two weeks for having 15min of minorities in it? Cool. Here's my review of it. filmfreakcentral.net/2026/07/the-...

Hello. Perdu the Penguin and I will be flying over to Gamescom in a couple of weeks, and we'd like to talk to you about our new Hot Air Balloon game. Find me on the ol' meettomatch or head for wherever the karaoke is.

I think this is one of the cruelest, ultimately self-sabotaging decisions you can make as a company. Why on earth would you stop employees finding happiness and fulfillment in the act of creation, widening their worldview and skill sets - and being able to bring some of that back INTO your studio.

NEW: I spoke with multiple video game developers and a U.S. employment lawyer to learn more about restrictive side clauses that often prevent employees at major companies from pursuing hobbyist work or personal projects. In an industry renowned for creativity, why are we stifling it?

Kind of adjacent to this discourse is the amount of popular tv dramas recently that display an almost pathological aversion to conflict and complex, complicated characters. All issues resolved in the space of the episode. Assurances that everyone is fundamentally decent. Nothing left hanging.

theres this one tumblr post ive seen talking about that phenomenon but w fiction writing that I think about often

darling of dots feb 24
been stewing on an analytical approach to fiction which call "is this book afraid of me?" and in order to answer this question you determine how hard the book is trying to make sure you don't come after the writer on twitter

the fucked-up part is that specifically notice this in like, BIPOC or queer romances because their authors a) are more likely to be harassed online b) tend to care about writing inclusive and intersectional books more, both of which are totally valid reasons, but unfortunately a book that is scared to be misunderstood is also scared to challenge the reader or allow for too much nuance or grey areas or character flaws and am sorry to say that it often makes for less compelling stories because it means shying away from ambiguities and complexities in an effort to reassure me, the reader, that everyone here is a Good Person engaging in Healthy Behaviours and Relationships

Blue Bottle Games, as a policy, does not use generative AI. It's something we've discussed as a team, weighing the pros and cons, and ultimately, we decided it was not for us. Recently, while chatting with a colleague, she mentioned it was useful hearing our reasoning. So: Sharing time! 1/12

I fucking love Eizouken! It might be my favorite depiction of what it's like to be a creative in any collaborative artform. The whole show radiates pure warmth of both love and commiseration for how hard it all is, yet we just can't stop. Also, every project needs a Kanamori.

As Johnson discovered to his extreme cost, after he made it clear he thought he was PM on merit, had a personal mandate and he didn’t have to listen to a lot of complaining media whiners.

"If you use the media relentlessly on the way up, as Nigel Farage has done, to tell your anti-establishment story, you cannot turn round and berate them."
Farage has attacked the press as he announced a Clacton by-election, but is he burning his bridges?

These are all great rules articulated far better than I ever managed. We initially only went with Fall Guys : Ultimate Knockout to give us some legal wriggle room in case Universal were in the process of reviving long dead stuntman tv show The Fall Guy.

Let's talk about naming your video game! This is something I come back to with teams over and over again. Naming is really hard. A decent name is hard to find, and a bad one will really make it hard for people to remember your game. Here are some tips.
