I’ve officially resigned as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Systems Neuroscience. It used to be a reputable journal, but became a case study in how forced automation destroys academic integrity. 👇

I usually come down on the "if it really works it should work with a larger n of untrained observers too" side of this. You get meaningful individual variation, which can be interesting in its own right.

If you administer Vitamin K as an oral solution, babies need three doses in the first month, whereas the shot is a one and done. My kid got two doses by mouth before leaving the hospital (one night stay) and his third at the *mandatory and FREE one week checkup* at his pediatrician (2/3)

One, this is horrifying. Two, I was somewhat perplexed about them calling it an injection because in Austria, Vitamin K is not a shot, it's drops given orally. I was curious why the US uses a shot, which probably drives part of the resistance, and my erstwhile spouse quickly figured it out (1/3)
