AES won 11 of the 12 counties where Michigan has federally recognized Indian tribes. He campaigned in some of these places, met with tribal leaders and representatives, and organized here. Sadly, this isn't a common thing in statewide races in Michigan.

So many people I encounter, especially in HigherEd, believe the only strategy for this moment is "keep your head down." @debtcollective.bsky.social didn't change priorities in 2024, nor in 2020, nor in 2016. They barreled ahead. There first big win was $800 million. This one is $11 billion.

If you're an 8th District voter have you ever seen Jason Smith in person? Are you fed up with his shilling for Trump or his votes to cut Medicaid, SNAP, public education, rural hospitals while bringing next to nothing to the district? We can change that. Vote Barnitz.

Booker: "Ghislaine Maxwell is sitting in the lowest possible confinement after giving no information that helped us get one more investigation started and has been silent, and the man responsible for that we're about to make the attorney general of the US ... this is farcical."
They're probably hoping you won't hear about this. But tomorrow in TX, Tarrant County officials meet to vote on a GOP plan to cut almost HALF of Election Day voting locations, plus 8 early voting locations, some of them on campuses. Not hard to guess why. fortworthreport.org/2026/07/30/t...

Sharks may not be full of plastic! Finally, some good fuckin' news!
The finding: no plastic (>1 mm) in any specimen. In marine plastic research, that's a rare and genuinely good result. It suggests pelagic elasmobranchs here may have lower plastic exposure than we'd assume, and gives us a solid baseline to track change over time.
🚨 Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders vote against Murray-Schumer's "bipartisan" midterm gift to Susan Collins.
The Murray/Schumer's "bipartisan deal" gives "Susan Collins a pristine “bipartisan” talking point to run on in Maine, while handing Trump’s budget director, Russ Vought, a bill he can sign without forfeiting a single inch of power before November." @thefarce.org
And it's so hard to get folks to believe it's real. We're still inundated with crime stories, from news reporting to copaganda to true crime to politicians ....
the rise and sudden decline of violent crime in the 90s still amazes me kind of wonder where we're at with criminologists tracing the great crime decline
