never thought short form video would be able to capture a type of humor i can only describe as “the far side-esque” but this comes close.

And I'm reminded how long it's been since I've seen Hunt for Red October. Who even knew there were Scots in Russia?!
There's a specific...not genre but vibe of movie from the 90s that I just love forever. Under 2 hours. Killer cast. Prolific director. Plot that keeps moving. The kind of flick you'd see on TNT in the middle of the afternoon The Quick and the Dead. Starship Troopers. Tombstone. Hunt for Red October
My grandparents used to eat Liver and Onions every once in a while. Because they'd developed a taste for it when they were young. During the Great Depression.
RFK Jr. suggests Americans can more easily afford groceries if they start eating liver instead of beef: "Most of the cheap cuts of meat are very inexpensive. ... You can buy liver"

So many great names, but we especially love to see D.C. Douglas doing a droid...we'll have to see if this unit has a soul...

A24’s ‘Elden Ring’ Film Stalled After Red Phantom Named TwinkPunisher Invades Set https://theonion.com/a24s-elden-ring-film-stalled-after-red-phantom-named-twinkpunisher-invades-set/
The back and forth…it’s just like the old days. Bless their hearts.
If this isn't already the best joke you've seen all year you need to go watch Taskmaster.
GREG DAVIES: seems like a kind of a shit task. Everyone just seems like they're going home normally. ALEX HORNE: well before you say that let's have a look at how Odysseus did. cut to panel of AJAX, MENELAUS, AGAMEMNON, and DIOMEDES who are all staring at ODYSSEUS with his head in his hands
Well since forest fire season seems to be getting fully in to swing in...*glances at calendar*...mid-July...this seems like a good time to remind folks to go buy a HEPA filter now. August gone be ugly and we don't even want to know about September.
Magical days. We did crunch a lot, but the point still stands. Part of the answer to how we did a cinematic heavy series that quickly/cheaply was the department I was in, Cinematic Design. Leadership called us “BioWare’s secret weapon” more than a few times.
Bioware did 3 Mass Effects from scratch, starting from pre-production in 2004 and ending in 2012. With inferior tools, on inferior hardware, with limited knowledge. They made the first one in 3 years. They did all 3 story heavy cinematic RPGs in 8 years. Like, what are we doing here?
The locking of the door and the dog throw are such awesome little stylistic flourishes. These are the details that make a chase/fight immortal.
35 years ago... POINT BREAK
Does this count as a retcon done right?
I love how they expanded on the story in this game.
I was at a friend's birthday bbq so I haven't been able to watch the game but just seeing the comments here has me pretty ravenous to watch a recording as soon as it's closed out.
"America Day is Cancelled by Climate Change" is a bit on the nose but at this point it feels like "as on the nose as possible" is what it will take
Um, they’re called communist sex workers

Bungie is laying off a significant number of people today. Exact number isn't clear yet, but employees are being informed this morning.
This has stopped getting much traction when I share it (understandable, everyone is unemployed and fatigued), but things are really tight for us right now and I would appreciate any extra visibility I can get. Available for all kinds of supplemental freelance and contract work.
Anyways if you know of anyone looking for in-house or contract game design, narrative design, or writing, full or part time, I'm still looking. Also open to in-person work of nearly any kind in the Vancouver area. ryanmcdiarmid.com
Man, thought we here in the US kinda had a recent monopoly on own goals
An own goal for Australia puts USA up early
1/3 of the game industry has lost their job in the last two years. Ubisoft closed two more studios today. Everyone is out of work. To that end I'm starting a new bundle to benefit a layoffs hardship fund. Game devs: please consider submitting your PAID games to the bundle, which will launch in July.
