This is a well-produced segment. I encourage you to watch so you can hear the noise for yourself. The professor of environmental health science that they interviewed called it an “unprecedented new noise source.”

Neighbors say noise from Michigan data center is 24/7 and upending their lives

One Michigan community has been experiencing the reality of a data center next door for a couple of years now, and they say the sound has changed their lives.

I don't think we should mince words. Transphobia and hatred killed May Pollard. The Idaho legislature killed her as surely as if they'd pointed a gun at her head and pulled the trigger. Anti-trans laws were the gun. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

Idaho pushed anti-trans laws for years. Then a teen died.

The life and death of May Pollard, 16, provides a window into the tragic effect that legislation and political rhetoric have had on trans people in America.

Societies rightly spend a lot of money on regulating drug trials. Allowing large scale betting on these trial outcomes just creates incentives to distort findings. This should be immediately legislated out of existence.

Prediction market platform Kalshi will start taking bets on the outcomes of clinical trials and FDA regulatory reviews, it said on Thursday, making drug-development odds public for the first time.

emily oster is one of the main conduits mainstreaming rfk jr.’s fake science. she’s laundering it for wealthy white liberals. unfortunately a lot of them like it, including the times, which has a contract with her 😬

Guys I can’t keep doing this independently. I need a job. If you know of a place—advocacy, OSINT org, think tank, left media, etc—where I could take this work in-house, pls let me know. I admire the folks making independent work for them, but I am collapsing under the weight and the lack of impact.

A few minutes ago, two ICE flights operated by Journey Aviation landed in Eswatini, likely another third-country removal of immigrants to a maximum security prison there. Nineteen people have already been sent there on previous ICE flights in the last nine months. Only two have been released.

BREAKING: The House of Representatives just voted to require teachers to forcibly out transgender youth against their will. Censoring "gender ideology" does nothing to advance the basic promise that every child deserves the same opportunity to thrive, and that includes transgender students.

I really can’t state strongly enough how utterly stupid this is. Once you eliminate taxes for a class you will never be able to bring them back. And it WILL domino. Eliminating taxes and privatizing everything is the republicans’ end goal. Do not help them!!!

Peltola gets on the "no tax" train that Cory Booker, Chris Van Hollen and Katie Porter are hawking, calling to axe "federal income tax entirely for working Alaskans earning less than $92,000 per year." #AKSen

Lower Taxes, Higher Wages: Eliminate federal income tax entirely for working Alaskans earning less than $92,000 per year; end taxes on seniors’ Social Security benefits; push corporations to deliver real wage increases for Alaska workers.

Really nice talk from @jeremylabrecque.bsky.social today on problems with "associational" language. Such a nice job highlighting some logical inconsistencies that are inherent to using associational language and a great discussion of what researchers can/should do instead.

Georgia Tomova@georgiatomova.bsky.social · 4mo ago

Do you ever claim to be interested in the "association" between variables? This talk may be for you! @jeremylabrecque.bsky.social will explain when and why such associational language is not appropriate and why causal language should be used instead. Register here: ucl.zoom.us/meeting/regi...
