Another GenCon in the bag! Ever grateful that Edge Studio keeps asking me back to run their room. Very tired but hopeful with new possibilities from all the new people I got to meet!

And then out of nowhere you get to meet one of your boyhood heros. I played the hell out of Car Wars and OGRE as a kid.
I’m surprised by how few games use solid loglines in their marketing. Like, come on, movies figured this shit out decades ago.
About 75% of the ads here at Gen Con are just the name of a game and the cover art. No description, no mechanic, no unique selling points. Tough love: nobody’s gonna look your game up afterwards, there are thousands of other games fighting for their attention. You gotta give them a reason to care.
Just had breakfast with @gengelstein.bsky.social and he signed my copy of GameTek! (Why did he draw a raccoon though? Is this related to all those weird mask dreams I’ve been having the last seven years!?)
