We have a qualified progressive in the primary, so this PAC just brought in a ton of outside money to make sure she doesn't make it to the general. I can't do much about that, but I can ask folks to throw $20 in the bucket for the progressive.

this is not worth getting mad over, but I think making Medicare For All (as the left has done so far) the main coalition upon which we can organize good health around is a better idea

I meet with MAHA activists because a lot of their concerns are bipartisan issues that major corporations paint as partisan. The fight isn't left and right, it's top and bottom.
The AAUP is proud to endorse Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for U.S. Senate in the Michigan Democratic primary. Dr. El-Sayed is a fierce champion for debt-free & tuition-free higher education & will be an invaluable ally for academic freedom & higher education as a public good in Washington.
The State Department said it takes "full responsibility" for "hastily" altering and then presenting a map of Africa at a global AIDS conference that mislabeled every single country it highlighted. An analysis by Reuters found a watermark in the map image that suggests it was made with OpenAI.
Unless public health people and the millions of people demanding material care and social and economic rights learn to organize themselves into campaigns that impose political costs on these reactionary freaks, we really are not going to see an end to this. More op eds aren't gonna cut it.

My Haitian friend was just fired from his job. "They said I don't have a legal status now." This is likely happening to hundreds of thousands of people across this country today. Sick.
At our municipal grocery stores, New Yorkers will get a 30% discount on eggs, milk, chicken, produce and other everyday essentials. In the wealthiest city in the richest country in the world, no one should have to wonder how they’ll afford the food they need to feed themselves or their families.
To the extent that MAHA is populist at all, it is a reactionary political movement against a public health & medical establishment that has overseen a health system that has grown progressively economically predatory.

i think i’m landing on all this tonight: i get the high importance of being welcoming to disillusioned MAHA aligned normies with open arms—something we do for all people as *public* health. but we also don’t need to pander to them, given the risks/unintended consequences involved

There's nothing to "join" in the Democratic Party. It's a brand with products I spend my vote on once a year at the democracy store. Most people's experience of it is an endless stream of texts that read like scams, their reward for donating or signing a petition. No wonder DSA is growing
