I make things, sometimes they even work.

I’d love to know what the people writing pasta directions use to cook the stuff because not once have I seen it cook in less than twice the time stated on the pack. “11-13 minutes” says the pack, I’m 20 minutes in and you could still stab someone with one of these pasta bows.

One of the exhausting things about the current climate is when the weird conspiracies about how Facebook terms are so they can take your niece’s birthday party photos and turn them into coffee table books for public sale or something turn out to be true.

The infuriating thing about these headlines now is that “AI” has lost all meaning. Is this a machine learning model trained specifically to flag potential airspace conflicts before they become a problem (good, eases controller load) or an LLM set loose to respond to ATC calls without enough context?

"You're absolutely right, there was indeed another commercial jet on the runway. That's my fault, I should have checked before assuming that runway was clear to land on. Since the runway is now closed, let me know if I can help with anything else. Do you know how runway numbers are selected?"

We should have a systemic nationwide campaign of making it socially unacceptable to ride bikes (motorised or otherwise) on pavements. Anytime we see a grown adult who's too scared to ride their bike on an empty residential road with a 20mph speed limit, heckle them for a being a massive coward.

My proposal - any company that employs people for little enough money those employees need social benefits gets taxed 2x the amount employees are eligible for (not what they claim, because then they’d just strong arm employees into not claiming).

Anytime this is the case, where employees are compensated so poorly that they must rely on SNAP or other benefits, that means that you are subsidizing THE COMPANY. Amazon is making YOU pay for their employees because they refuse to pay them a living wage. finance.yahoo.com/economy/arti...

For unknown reasons (which I can't be bothered to diagnose) the Bluesky app on my phone isn't letting me log in with an error message about the password being wrong. The same one I just used to log in here. Anyway, guess I'm on an enforced less Bluesky period.

Against all odds, EVE Online has made the decision to move on from Python 2.7. What excuses are you making to keep yourself from overdue changes in YOUR life?

What Dolly taught us is that it is in fact possible to be wealthy beyond your wildest dreams of avarice but still be a fundamentally good person with a strong moral compass, and the only reason more rich people aren't like that is because they don't want to be.

Played some Big Walk with the Discord, having already done the opening hour or so with one other person I was dubious it would scale to 8-12 well but somehow it does. Much more chaotic but in a very entertaining way.
