Putting together my query pack this week has been much easier because I've been using this writers' resource page (resourcesforwriters.carrd.co) that the amazing @julesarbeaux.bsky.social has pulled together. For once I've enjoyed writing my synopsis (never been done). Thank you Jules, you're ace!

As a mom of two amazing kids, I'm totally here for "messy feelings around family," and I liked this story very much.

Super excited to finally shout about this. My first short fiction publication "Words that Wither, Words that Bloom" is out with @uncannymagazine.bsky.social and available to read on their website! If plant/name magic & messy feelings around family are your vibe, check it out! 🌿✨

Image reads: New story! "Words that Wither, Words that Bloom" out now with Uncanny Magazine. It includes the story's opening sentence, which reads: By the time she was five, Vanis had heard the same joke so many times she was sick of it: Had her mother Terese not been a guest of honor at the event, not even she would have attended Vanis’s birth.

Heyyyy I'm raffling off a couple of tiny knitted creatures--hand-knit by yours truly--to raise funds for community aid organizations. That's right: you can own your very own wee knit beastie and help your community at the same time! Deets are in my latest newsletter: buttondown.com/JenniferHuda...

A Raffle

I want to talk about writing and words. But first things first. As I write this, it’s a frigid morning. Snow is piled in huge drifts outside the window....

Blurb:

Don't make waves, don't get attached, and never let anyone see the tattoos.

Those rules have kept Tory Arknett alive, alone, and on the run for years in a country eager to put his healing hands to work on the front lines of a brutal war. When a desperate display of magic outs him to the authorities, Tory flees—right into the hands of cold and competent Sena Vantaras. Caged in a cruel training facility and implanted with a magical tracker, Tory needs to get out before he gets dead. There’s just one thing to do before he goes: make Sena pay.

But Sena is already paying more than Tory knows, and when a mission strands them both in enemy territory, they must cooperate to survive. As they learn the truth about each other and the myth behind the magic that connects them, Tory and Sena find belonging with each other.

But their trackers will kill them in three days if they don't return to the facility. Soon, Tory and Sena face a desperate decision: their freedom, or their lives?

Pride Faves! A rainbow stack of some of my favourite books that I own in physical copy. There's fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and Most Ardently, which belongs in a catagory of its own and is one of my favourite books of the year. Which ones have you read? List of authors and titles below:

Stack of rainbow books with cute star at the top and a rainbow with a frog at the bottom. The bckground is rainbow in a pastel style.

It's here! The gorgeous cover for my debut novel, How to Lose a Goblin in Ten Days, publishing January 2026 with @orbitbooks.bsky.social! Thank you so much to my amazing illustrator, Raahat Kaduji, and equally amazing art director, Sophie Ellis, for giving this little book such a magical cover!

A paperback of How to Lose a Goblin in Ten Days lays against a pink heart illustrated background. The book's cover is covered in green, heart-shaped leaves, and features a red door prominently in the center. A pumpkin, mushrooms, two pairs of boots, a sword, and an axe are arranged around the door. Several pink flowers are blooming among the leaves.

Incredibly pleased to announce that I exist! Hi all. I'm Jules and I write funky feelsy sci-fi and fantasy. Hopefully in the next month or so I'll get to scream about the beautiful cover for my second book! I have a cat named Merlin and she loves to cause problems.
