One great side effect of following British math teachers is that I sometimes also get posts like this that are absolutely surreal from my American POV.
I think my absolute favourite outcome of the Clacton by-election would be for Count Binface to win on 52% of the vote. Deliciously ironic just desserts.

this is the kind of obstreperousness, don't tell me what to do-ness, i got rightsness that is the sheet anchor of American liberties.

minnesota state rep jess hanson rides elon musk for filth for trying to defend his pervy app: "when the richest man in the world hangs out with the epstein class... we cannot act surprised when he's trying to protect the number one tool used to make child sexual abuse material"
minnesota state senator directly taking on musk and his big pockets PRECISELY HOW DEMOCRATS SHOULD BE DOING IT

The Democratic presidential debates need to have spring loaded traps underneath each candidate and any time one of them says "we need to move on" or "I'm focused on the future, not the past" they should be immediately launched through the roof of the auditorium.
I want trials for every last one of these mother fuckers.
I know a lot of the focus here has been on the Dems who voted not to cut aid to Israel but I think “the majority of the caucus voted to cut aid” is a monumental sea change in Dem politics and the movement here is only going in one direction this is the most Dem support Israel will ever see again
BREAKING: A majority of Democrats in the House have just voted to cut the $3.3 billion/year in U.S. military aid to Israel. Rep. Thomas Massie – the leader of the amendment – was the only Republican in support.
REMINDER: I am hosting my 52nd town hall in person this Saturday, July 18, at 10:00 am, at the Portland Community College Cascade Campus Auditorium, 705 N Killingsworth St., Portland, OR 97217. I am eager to hear your voices and ideas to help make our nation a better place.

That's weird I thought he was against gender-affirming healthcare.
Hegseth announced they're gonna start screening for T and administering testosterone treatment for warriors found wanting
Paying someone $5.6M from your $2.2B 2026 income is like a median US worker paying how much from their $67K salary?
"President Trump has paid the writer E. Jean Carroll $5.6 million that was owed to her as a result of a jury’s finding that he was liable for sexually assaulting her in a Manhattan department store in the 1990s and then defaming her." www.nytimes.com/2026/07/14/n...
my kids’ generation thinks about gender differently from mine. it’s completely normal to them that gender is fluid. to try to legislate that away is telling the tide not to come in. it’s a sort of societal immaturity I’d hoped we’d have grown out of
Just want to brag about my Congressional rep, @repdexteror.bsky.social . She and her staff take the values and goals I want her to advocate for and bring them up a level with her knowledge, brilliance, and hard work. And she stays loud.
As a physician, I refuse to sit back while the American healthcare system is gutted. Universal, affordable, high-quality healthcare is needed urgently. I’m determined to bolster and expand our healthcare system so families can get the care they need. Stay loud.
Good thing it's summer as I add yet another great puzzle game to the list!
100% agree with this take on Platner's institutional supporters. I am especially shocked and saddened by @warren.senate.gov's role in promoting him, not because she was the most culpable but because I admire(d) her so much.
i have been trying to unpack why the i told you so’s here feel so legitimate despite the horrific seriousness of the allegations. i think bc it’s so enraging that he was allowed to make it this far. that poor woman was forced to traumatize herself in public because pundits are too fucking stupid

This 60-year-old lifelong Democrat gets more DSA-curious every day.
Incredible moment where Fox News puts up a graphic with all the reasons it opposes the DSA and why people should be afraid of them
He creates his own reality & expects us to believe it. The FELON's FANTASY: Meanwhile, back on EARTH 1:
Walter F White was a white man. At least, that's what you'd see if you ever saw him. He had white skin, blue eyes, blond hair. The vast majority of his grandparents were white. And he was a descendant of the ninth US president. But Walter didnt consider himself white 🧵
Torn between: It would be nice if we could care that this is happening to trans girls without immediately pivoting to centering cis people And Anti-trans legislation is absolutely being used as a Trojan horse for wider restrictions on all girls/women and we need to be screaming about that
This is a reminder that some schools have already begun closing girls’ athletics teams because the requirement to verify gender was too onerous. Even just a form signed by a parent confirming their child’s gender identity is a barrier beyond what boys are required to do to play sports.
Perhaps my #MathSky friends will be interested in the artwork that my wife and I bought at the Carlsbad Art Fair this morning. Made with wild oat straw collected by the biologist/artist who made the piece.
I just received a new passport, and I'm extremely relieved it doesn't have the mad king's hateful mug on it. Phew.
