So sad to hear that the wonderful Dolly Parton has died. I saw her in concert around 2008 and she was magnificent! One of the most incredible performers I’ve ever seen - she held the crowd in the palm of her hand

So looking forward to this event @greenbeltfestival.bsky.social - join us for a service of letting go of patriarchal expectations with original material and contributions from our fab @feministtheology.bsky.social members! Friday 3.30pm in the Shelter Venue
News from our instagram... If you're at Greenbelt this month and fancy an FTN first, we're hosting a feminist liturgy. I would be great to meet with you in-person if you are at the festival: put Friday 28th August, 3:30pm in your programme.
It's called The Humanities and it's being systematically dismantled due to HE cuts. 😡

Yesterday, in her all-staff talk our VC chose to highlight the recent election of 5 FBAs from the University of Exeter. She failed to point out that 4 of us (with many of our colleagues) have just been placed at risk of redundancy. #DefendExeterUni @exeterucu.bsky.social
I just saw a meme that said “get in losers, we’re reclaiming the emdash”. People. PEOPLE. Where are your STANDARDS? It CLEARLY should be “get in, losers — we’re reclaiming the em dash.”
I have passed my PhD Viva - and with only minor corrections! I think you can now call me Rev’d Dr?! Here I am pictured with the unsurpassable Dr Karen O'Donnell @karenod.bsky.social - I’m so honoured to be her very first completed PhD student! Find out more: www.instagram.com/p/DaDoklso62...
Bad things happening back in Exeter. Bad things happening across the whole higher education sector in general, but this seems especially bad. As an Exeter science graduate I say we need these humanities departments. Vital work and excellent quality. If they're for the chop nothing is safe.
Colleagues at Exeter have asked me to circulate their petition as widely as possible: www.change.org/p/stop-redun...
Please sign this. Please If you know anything about the great work that Exeter's Theology and Religion department produces (top notch scholars!), you understand how important this petition is
I’d love it if you’d sign this. It might not prevent me and my colleagues losing our jobs, but it will draw attention to the ideological vandalism being perpetrated by the wealthy execs running our university. Stop Redundancies at the University of Exeter - sign the petition below! c.org/NpvY4sR9gH
This is such a disappointing decision by Exeter: I was recommending them as a beacon of classics and the humanities to a would-be student only last week, because they have so many brilliant scholars doing great work. I hope they rethink.
Guess what? I’m at risk of redundancy. My job - and those of my colleagues in my department and across our wider faculty of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences - is one of those currently targeted for cuts. I received a personal letter today. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I studied my PhD @exeter.ac.uk which was wonderful. My incredible colleagues in the TRS faculty there are at threat of redundancy. They are some of the most brilliant people doing important research. I’m horrified that this is happening to them
The University of Exeter has become the latest Russell Group university to announce major job cuts, insisting it “must” take action to reduce financial pressures. Juliette Rowsell reports #highered #jobcuts https://ow.ly/K8bq50ZfYlY

Reform has defended Robert Kenyon and his deeply misogynistic comments saying it was just "locker room banter”. That's the "Trump defence." It's the one that says its "ok" to be a truly dreadful sexist wanker if you're with "the lads".

“Use AI to brainstorm but not to write.” “Use AI to help you outline but not to write.” These are commonly proposed as “ethical” ways for undergrad students to use AI, but I’m sorry, brainstorming & outlining are just as integral to writing as the actual construction of sentences.
