TL;DR: The Seattle Times editorial board is showing its entire ass. They are desperate to have Katie Wilson fail, and they're willing to make up bizarre conspiracy theories to facilitate that outcome.

Having worked in the Seattle mayor's office (2011-13), one thing is absolutely clear. A corporate establishment mayor is playing the game on beginner difficulty mode. A progressive mayor plays the same game on extreme difficulty mode. The rules and expectations are just totally different.

Noting that housing opponents have compared housing for renters to nuclear power plants and highways today, Lin says, "I don't think housing and future residents are toxic waste or pollution that need to be studied for years and years and years on end. I believe housing is a human right." !!!
Seattle's critical comprehensive plan, a process that so far has taken 5 years, cost millions of dollars, hinges on whether every single person who has a spare $120 to file an appeal is satisfied that every potential, even marginal, impact is fully studied. The EIS was 3047 pages, but not adequate.
Housing choice is good, actually. This tiny apartment probably shares a larger kitchen space and common area with other building residents. Micro units like this give people the option to live in a neighborhood they couldn’t otherwise afford. Basically it’s a dorm room for adults. (1/
I saw an apartment for rent in Seattle for $1000 per month and thought “oh that seems super cheap, let’s see why” and it was 142 square feet

I'm so fucking tired of hearing that trans kids need to eat shit. That we need to let lawless bygones be bygones. That data centers get all our water and we just need to adjust to the future. That the Supreme Court is static and we just need to sit there and not have rights.
