Captain Planet, FernGully, and that goddamn PSA about cutting the plastic on soda rings RAISED me. I grew up where, at the end of my cartoons, there was a PSA about being kind or helping people or caring. Empathy was baked in, but also highly encouraged.

STARFLEET ACADEMY was the most Star Trek of all the recent live-action Treks and a loud portion of the fans just couldn’t handle it.

FWIW, as a transgender developer and user of AI systems, anecdotally, I've received much more negative treatment over my use of AI than my gender on this platform.
In the current political climate, and with the Ellisons owning Paramount, I realize people just want classic Star Trek ethical quandaries and political commentary, and they're not getting that, but still, I think in five years time these one-off episodes will be reliable comfort rewatches
There is much to criticize about the current season of Strange New Worlds, but I think these "gimmick" episodes will age a lot better than people want to believe, certainly better than the Gorn stuff that went nowhere, and better than other Trek that took itself too seriously but didn't deliver
Yeah, OK, STICK WITH THIS ONE. Because it doesn't end the way you think. #StrangeNewWorlds (Unless you remember how a certain season one episode pans out)

I do think “every rich person went insane during covid because it was the first time they’ve been inconvenienced in decades” felt a little reductive at first but damn if isn’t more and more compelling as the years drag on
