My best advice for any game devs recently laid off is to keep in touch with your closest coworker friends, do a group call at least once a week, share job postings in the chat, hype each other up, and just generally look out for each other.

Well folks, the hand of the market got me: I've been impacted by layoffs at Bungie. It's been an incredible, astonishing pleasure working on Destiny 2 and a small part of Marathon with so many wonderful, talented folks. This was my first AAA job, at a studio whose games I'd played since childhood.
The entire Cinematic org was included. Let me know if you're looking to pick up a Director and/or other talented cine folks at any level.

Well, I've been affected by the Bungie layoffs, and I guess I'm now looking for work. I'm a senior narrative designer on Destiny 2. I'm going to thread a little list of stuff I've done on the game; normally I go out of my way to avoid attention, but today I'd appreciate reposts.
Today marks 10 years in the games industry for me! This is such a tough industry, especially recently, and I genuinely didn’t know if I would hit this milestone. But I did! I also hit 6 years at my current studio this week, and I’ve never been on a better team than the one I’m on right now 💜

One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential
I could quote any part of this article and it would be incredibly poignant, but this part in particular stuck out to me. Art is meant to challenge people, to make people uncomfortable; but too often the people on top are willing to sacrifice it for the sake of commercial viability.

Also how childish is it to be boiling down a piece of art to just an enumeration of things it depicts that you find objectionable. If we care about video games we have to eradicate this kind of reductive nonsense.
people getting their spotify wrapped today: it's a great time to switch to another service. spotify is doubling and tripling down on taking ICE's business and running ads. switching to tidal took me all of a few minutes and they made their own annual most-played thing anyway.
A lot of people on here will (correctly!) sing the praises of Arcadia and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, but it should also be noted that his translation of Anton Chekov’s The Seagull is genuinely one of the greatest translations to exist.
