Filmmaker, write some things, edit some things others have written, not in Vampire Academy.

By far the funniest moment in Homer’s Odyssey is when Circe says, “Shall we have sex?” and Odysseus says, “You just turned all my men into pigs. You have the GALL to think I would sleep with you? Of course I will. Absolutely. But don’t do any weird spells”

photograph of the relevant passage in Fitzgerald's translation of the Odyssey ("I make no bed of love with you upon it. Or swear me first a great oath, if I do, you'll work no more enchantment to my harm.")

Saw The Odyssey last night. Loved it. True experiential cinema. When the storm hits the ship, you're in that ship with them. It's almost three hours yet not a moment feels wasted. So good that I never needed to go out for a wee.

My random Sam Neil story. An actor friend of mine was cast in a small role on Peaky Blinders. Never receives his script pages. Discovers his role has been pushed to non speaking background, which is less fun/less money. Sam Neil spots him looking dejected on set and finds out.

The Sound of Drums depicted Ann Widdecombe defecting from the Tories to be a spokesperson for a populist movement centring around the personal cult of a conniving grifter, and maybe RTD had a better grasp on politics than we all gave him credit for.
