RNZ framing this as a wily Peters evading comments, rather than as a coward who refused to answer questions and abused the rules of the house to do so is just par for the course in the current media environment, sadly

“We aren't a country, I think, who would like to think of the fact that we've got old people who are either starving or freezing in their own homes.” We don’t like to think about it but it’s absolutely the reality for our older people - and everyone in power is perfectly happy with this status quo.
Older Kiwis choosing between 'starving or heating' as price increases bite
I don't remember this ever being raised with Ardern who was surely one of the busiest PMs we've had
This might be a bit niche, but it’s very annoying hearing of organisations saying “well it’s the law to segregate trans people so hands are tied” when most of them respond to accessibility law with “eh who’s gonna catch us?”
None of us -want- to clog your timelines with this shit. I fucking HATE interrupting dumb horny boob posts with calls to action but like If action isnt taken the boobs will stop entirely like we -cant- ignore this shit, this isnt FUN
Saw a post saying "I don't want NSFW accounts to talk about voting, just let me jack off" Buddy, NSFW artists and sex workers are being constantly attacked by a government of nonces trying to distract from their own crimes by pinning the blame on porn. They have the right to speak up about this.

Nonsense. RBNZ estimated in May that the oil price shock would lead to higher unemployment for longer (yellow line) but today's data was worse than expected (again!) The trouble is the reckonomists believe their own recovery hype.
Unemployment at its highest level for 11 years, did I see? And THAT INCLUDES THE COVID AND LOCKDOWN TIMES. Thanks to the Ardern government that protected jobs and businesses at the time.
This happened yesterday and we celebrated with pizza and also beat Silent Hill F. bsky.app/profile/did:...
2000 reviews! Well I didn't expect this before we launched but I'll take it. :-)
A vote for National or NZ First means returning ACT to power again. ACT are gunning for workers, disabled people, and children. They will actively and intentionally make all our lives worse, except ofc for their wealthy donor class.
Today's chart after ACT got another $25k The system is rigged
A vote for National, NZFirst, or ACT is a vote to keep older kiwis in poverty, and to make their poverty worse. This coalition government has actively passed policies that have made things tougher for everyone who isn't in the wealthy donor class. It will only get worse if they are voted back in.

Just a reminder that: - this isn't for workplaces and if your work is trying to implement it scare them over discrimination claims - the onus is on the service provider, not the service user to comply - the code *itself* says enforcement of toilet facilities is unworkable and low priority
EHRC Code of Practice comes into effect today so remember to be an absolute pain in the arse to any service provider who is trying to actively enforce it.
Desperate stuff to make Key feels he has to chip in. Damning for Luxon as it makes him look extremely weak needing a rescue.
Lol. Luxon doesn’t have a role, he is across nothing but his entitlements. He’s deposited in meetings with the scripts written for him where he glad hands everyone he meets. No surprise Key continues to support his choice for PM. As if he’d admit his choice is useless, that’d take humility. #nzpol
📢 The former Prime Minister said NZDF planes are practical given the role's busy nature.
This has aged worse than sour milk. "Luxon rejected suggestions that a Defence Force flight allowed greater flexibility." #nzpol www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
Christopher Luxon commits to flying commercial if elected
Opposition leader Christopher Luxon says he will not use Defence Force planes to travel internationally if elected as prime minister.

And think of the demands on her time! I've got some hair-curling stories too ....
Name]" on the door, students just assumed the woman whose work space was right next to the copy room must be a secretary.
An undergrad professor once shared that at one of her previous offices, she'd often have students asking her to make copies. Initially, she thought they just wanted help working the copier but eventually realized that, despite her having her own office filled with books and it saying "Prof. [Last
Because admin staff were mostly women, female academics were considered equivalent. There to perform service, not to undertake intellectual work. Of course it was more complex than this, but that's the broad picture. #AcademicSky
I never noticed that, he said, not disbelieving me exactly, but that's what such an apparently impartial observation is doing. But you wouldn't notice it, would you, I said, when the system is working for you. #AcademicSky
A retired friend was remembering when there were departmental secretaries at universities who basically project managed the departments. You could give them handwritten documents, and they would type them up. He was shocked when I said it didn't work like that for female academics.

"We're super smart rocket engineers working for a super genius who's so smart that even Iron Man thinks he's smart. Anyway, we fucked up the trajectory of a bit of our rocket so it's going to smash into the Moon and pollute it for ever. Would you like to buy our satellite internet?"

Ways to bully people into voting greens: -Withold your delicious cooking until they acquiesce -Give them rides in your fancy car if they agree to vote greens -Tell them voting greens prevents wrinkles -Watch catastrophic climate change videos in the communal area until they agree -slap them
If you are disheartened by the first image, then look at the second image and then tell your mates to enroll to vote and then bully them into voting for greens ✌🏽
when it comes to the Kessler Syndrome stuff i always found this further theory really curious en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kessler...

Wide screenshot of the RNZ website this afternoon, with my arrow added for comparison… even the automated “related stories” column is calling Luxon out on his BS now. #NZPol CC @BobLefridge
