every gardener i follow is going absolutely hogwild flexing that they eat lettuce from behind their house. i've never seen gardeners act like this in my life. this is our super bowl. this is our olympics. gold medal in shitting normally

my social media algorithms have slowly all converged into bean recipes - not sure if that's a sign of the economy, or I've become tremendously dull, or perhaps a bit of both. But I do appreciate it.

Underrated aspect of kids - watching them hit unsuspecting adults outside of the family with absolutely wild non-sequiturs and witnessing that adult work through bafflement towards a sensible response.

In a sick, violent way, they have more faith in the possibility of a new world than a lot of people on the other side. They are willing to reimagine all of it. Many of us cannot imagine getting rid of payday loans and they’re like eff it, let’s see if the Pope’s still got the juice.

Realizing that some of my inexplicable sadness about the Artemis II stuff is that it feels like a trans-dimensional communication from an America that took a different path and chose joy instead of fear and hate.

I am not surprised by any of the kind of … poignancy a lot of people are finding in the Artemis II story. To me, it’s like talking to someone you love who you almost never get to see anymore. This is the kind of story I miss when every day makes me despair. How many more will we have?

Also maybe our resilience hubs are not only for food security and cooling/warming and public health access. Maybe our resilience hubs are also places where intelligence is collective and connective, but not a commodity.

i think one of the reforms we need to do for woke is make all computer guys take humanities classes again and also if they complain about them they have to take more humanities classes

Maybe it's because I don't have to do a lot of these, but writing a letter of recommendation for a student I believe in is warming my heart and giving me life this morning.

The most unsubtle, heavy-handed claims made by pomo academic types have turned out to all be true. Gender is a relation of domination that requires constant, affirming witness. Capitalism will require extractive colonial relations. There’s no subtlety. Every day is like a 101 seminar at Oberlin.

There is a layer of scum a connective tissue... that connects all the people that populate the Epstein ecosystem Men of a certain age having little to no sense of self beyond work ... no charisma ... deeply soulless ... empty ... wanting... vacuous

NYT columnist David Brooks wrote an op-ed a few weeks ago titled, "The Epstein Story? Count Me Out,” lamenting people are too focused on the Epstein scandal + saying "the QAnon mentality has taken over." Today he appeared in 4 photos from the Epstein dump. Welp! www.huffpost.com/entry/david-...

For capitalism to keep operating it has to convince you that you are thing that ends at the boundaries of your body rather than a flow connected to uncountable others. After all, you can't really profit off extracting from yourself.

I know people think I’m too woo-woo about theory and capitalism and markets. But I sincerely believe this kind of degradation of micro-trust is the real social and economic rot. We constantly feel scammed and then we start reacting like marks instead of mutually reliant humans.

peak grocery store experience - duck in from a sudden rainshower, wander the nearly-empty aisles with Tears for Fears "Head Over Heels" playing from the overhead speakers, followed by "Love My Way" by Psychedelic Furs. This nugget will be in my brain forever.

Discovering computer as an adult makes you go crazy. Discovering computer as a baby makes you go crazy. In all of human history, there will only ever be one generation to discover computer at the correct age: 13

The problem with every post-Millennial generation is they got to go straight to high speed internet. Of course you'll get computer madness that way. Make them start with those old screeching modems and work their way up

I've watched every minute of the recorded oral comments & read the hundreds of written submissions to @ripta.com in response to the painful service reductions and segment and outright eliminations on the table. This 🧵 is strictly my own and is not an official RIPTA statement.
