Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.

The question isn't what this primary tells us about the future, it's what it says about the *present*. And the answer is that even though 100% of party leadership, donors, consultants, and AIPAC are maniacally opposed to candidates like El-Sayed, Mamdani, etc... at least 50% of party VOTERS aren't.

I think the best thing about federalism is that I don't actually have to care very much about a senate primary in another state. I hope Michiganders get someone they like, I don't need to have an opinion! Meanwhile, here in NC, @roycoopernc.bsky.social looks to be in a very strong position.

I was peripherally involved when the University of Michigan digitized their library in the late 2000s (I worked for central IT and ran the backup service, the library used us for backups for the project). One of the librarians involved gave a talk about it to us.

I promise you, librarians are not intentionally throwing first editions and rare books out in the trash. It will apparently surprise some of you to know that we are actually trained on weeding. Books go througha process before they hit that dumpster.

I donated to Wikimedia Foundation monthly for years because I believe in their mission. Wikipedia is one of the singularly most useful and least sucky things on the internet. I just wish the foundation mgmt didn’t suck. When this first came to light I stopped my donations, and I let them know why.
