My dishwasher's been broken for a few weeks, and it turns out I really missed washing dishes by hand. For about 5 years in my 20's I lived in a house with no dishwasher and worked at a cafe without one. My mind just wanders to stories and characters, and it feels so peaceful.

Justin Đoàn@soundaholism.bsky.social · 2mo agoI've been thinking a lot about visible vs invisible skill layers. i.e every craft has outer layers of skills that laypeople can recognise, and inner layers that you need expertise and experience to perceive at all. Could y'all think of examples of visible vs invisible skills in your own discipline?
god bless fan fiction. So many young adults who think they aren't readers because they're not picking up novels are reading 200k word fan fiction stories. It's glorious. Lovely are the people who create it for the pure joy of writing stories about their fav characters. Lovely are the readers.

My friend is starting a big D&D campaign, so I spent the day doing everybody’s characters. I’m not sure this is everyone yet, but it’s what we got so far.
Graphic novels turn kids into lifelong readers. They challenge readers, transform reluctant readers into readers, they bring joy. They boost vocabulary, increase reading comprehension for brains that take in information differently. They tell a story. Graphic novels are real reading, real books ✨📚😊
I just remembered the term "plot bunny," which somehow I haven't heard in years, and got so nostalgic... I got a new story idea that I adore, and my current WIPs are raising their eyebrows at me. It's fine, working on too many manuscripts at once is just part of being an author, right?
The most legit I ever felt as a cartoonist was when the owner of my favorite game store @chanceencounter.games saw my handwriting and said, "That looks like how people letter comics." Thank you, comics are in my bones at this point.
Last night I was doodling Louise & Keira from my WIP YA romcom and realized that I NEED to sell this book someday so that I can make piles of sappy art for preorder goodies. 😍
