Hi! I'm looking to speak to anyone who is finding ways to resist/work around mandatory AI usage policies at work. Mostly games industry-related, but happy to speak to anyone adjacent as well! Published quotes can of course be anon if desired. DM me here or email at luke@aftermath.site, thanks!

An artist portfolio should have*: ▪️ A collection of the type of work you're looking for (ie. interiors, covers, etc.) ▪️ A range of your styles that you are comfortable with ▪️ A sample of what you like/want to draw (ie. humans, animals, bicycles, detailed backgrounds, etc.) ▪️ CONTACT 👏 INFO 👏

I'm on the lookout for an available interior comic artist for a middle-grade project. Looking for someone who can draw: kid-friendly, eerie/spooky (Twilight Zone, Gravity Falls, etc.) but fun, human characters, anthropomorphic animals. Please respond w/ samples + folio link. No emails/DMs.

This might be one of the most insane scandals in game history When Pokemon Go players scan PokeStops, theyve been unknowingly building a detailed visual model of the world which is being sold to a military contractor to build a no-GPS positioning for the new generation of unmanned killing machines

I consider myself a consummate professional, but if you tell me you’re laying off employees under embargo, I would feel morally obligated to break that embargo as soon as possible so that employees could make arrangements. I’ve been in the mad-rush mode following a surprise layoff. It’s awful.

Ubisoft EMBARGOED news to outlets about the layoffs and studio closures, FYI. Employees were told this morning. And then many reached out to us. Companies trying to embargo layoffs and closures might be the most embarrassing thing I've ever seen in my 16 years.

I'm actually furious about this nonsense. If anyone comes up to my table at a show, especially if they have a limited budget to buy things, I try to encourage them to save their money and check out my books at the library because for me, the goal is readers, not money.

The Authors Guild are in partnership with an AI Licensing company. They're trying to funnel members to this company in the guise of 'earning more' from their books. But even if an author is paid for a 3 year licence, their books are in the meat grinder for good. There's no way to extract titles.

I grew up in a town that didn't have any bookstores, it only had a library. My parents supported and encouraged reading, but we didn't have money to spend on books either. The library was one of my favourite places in the world, I borrowed and read books I wouldn't have otherwise have been able to.

What in the WHAT. Not only are libraries a massive source of income for authors (because they have to BUY a MASSIVE amount of books to stock in the library), but in Canada, they even pay authors for each book of ours that is in the library (the Public Lending Right).

You all-- I never thought I'd see the day, but library peeps, strap in for a fight. The Author's Guild is going after us as the reason why authors are making less money. I don't think they understand who they are dealing with: www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

TCAF leftovers are now available for purchase! - 'She must be ugly!' A comic zine about the reaction to my Catcall Kill Kill sticker. - 'The Master,' a tract style comic featuring my story from Pulping Volume 1 - Toronto Racoon postcard - 'Defend Nature' gold sticker

A small comic zine being held by my hand. The title reads "She must be ugly!" The cover is a soft pink with red and black linework. Speech bubbles are covering the person's face which is distorting their facial features. A dagger is stabbing them in the chest. The lower text reads: "Thoughts on making art as a woman with a face and body that is unfortunately perceived by others"A tract style comic, which is a small landscape comic popularized by tijuana bibles and gospel tract comics. The title is, 'The Master.' This is my comic from Pulping Volume 1, reformatted into a small tract style comic. The cover is all black with THE MASTER in white text. The image features our protagonist, Sam, in profile. Behind her lurks the, shadowed in red.A small postcard sized print of a raccoon which reads TORONTO in bright yellow ink. This is a 3 colour risograph postcard. The image features a raccoon grabbing a bag of goodies from a convenience store, with the stuff instead spilling out. There are flowers surrounding them.A matte gold sticker measuring 3 x 3 inches featuring a woman and a tiger in silhouette. The text reads 'Defend Nature'

I saw Marjane Satrapi speak about her work at Smith College 19 years ago, and she said something I have thought about and taught ever since when I teach comics. “I draw what I can’t write and I write what I can’t draw.“

AN INTRO TO THE PWHL is the very first zine that I have made entirely on my own, and it’s going to be launching at TCAF. If you’ve been wondering about the PWHL and where to start…let me lovingly teach you about the basics and what you need to know to start following.

A zine titled An Intro to the PWHL: Everything You Need to Know to Follow and Enjoy. A skating hockey player is on the front.
