A bit of a surprise: former Republican Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley ahead of James Talarico. He says he’s ashamed Ken Paxton is even on the ballot. Calls him “the most corrupt politician Texas has ever seen.”

Imagining a member of the IRGC meeting JD’s mother and laughing my ass off
JD Vance: "The Iranians are extraordinarily difficult people"
The reason Blutah is so allurring is... the whole state lives in cities! Almost no one lives in the rural parts of Utah. One of our most urbanized (and highly educated) states! bsky.app/profile/eean...
Or just more blue cities in a red state, like all the other red states 😩
As @kevinmkruse.bsky.social noted, this was the cover of the pro-free-market, not-progressive Economist one month before the election that brought Trump back to power. The economy had problems, hence the result, but a “total catastrophe” it was not.
Trump: "When we took office, we inherited a total catastrophe"
Folks, the US lost to Iran, decisively, and there is no way to un-lose now by any practical means. The IRI is the hegemon of the Gulf Arabs now. The Strait of Hormuz will not be free again in my lifetime. Freedom of navigation is dead as international norm. He ruined the world. Best to make do.
If the generic ballot polls showing D+ 8-10 are correct, AES will probably win, if the ones showing D+ 3-5 are right he'll probably lose, not much more to it than that.
Ohtani! PCA! There’s never been an MLB game where two players who went on to finish top-10 in MVP in the same league that year — let alone top-2 — both hit leadoff home runs We’ll know officially in Nov, but pretty fair to assume this is the first h/t @EliasSports

Wright falsely denied canceling energy projects in blue states just because they were blue, in congrressional testimony. Department documents prove he lied. Do we have law in this country?
Trump energy chief lied to Congress about canceled clean energy funds, lawmakers allege
My ice-cold boring take that will definitely not go viral is that a primary result with a margin of victory of roughly 1 percent tells you precisely nothing about The Future Of The Party.
Yea I wonder if LDS former moderate Republicans are at all a reason why Arizona is competitive now
And this is why people hate the Dem establishment. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/04/u...
While the gap between Dem and GOP talent keeps snowballing hard in favor of Dems, there has been an absolute decline in Dem talent, as a delayed effect of the local and state-level wipeouts under Obama.
What I don’t understand is why so many states have such underwhelming options in this likely very blue year.
"A federal judge on Tuesday indicated she was likely to find in favor of a coalition of renewable energy groups and order the Trump administration to resume reviewing wind projects." www.courthousenews.com/judge-likely... via @courthousenews.bsky.social's Monique Merrill 🔌💡
Judge likely to make Pentagon resume wind project reviews
The Department of Defense cited national security concerns as the reason it has stopped reviewing wind energy projects.

I learned that Gillibrand needs to be removed from committee leadership as soon as possible!
I wonder what establishment Democrats will learn from the consequences of screwing with McMorrow and Tom Malinowski's campaigns
Um yeah either candidate was walking out of this incredibly weak so consolidating as fast as possible is the only way forward
Hopefully this means Dems are feeling pressure to quickly consolidate & let bygones be bygones
the median midwestern voter loves two things: electing republicans and thwarting republican policy goals via ballot referendum
Perhaps the most breathtakingly racist election result since David Duke won the primary for governor.
Seems like an upset might be brewing in the GOP primary in #MI08 to take on Dem Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet. Trump endorsed Amir Hassan, but he currently trails an absolute nobody who suspended his campaign a month ago by a wide margin.
The fact Whitmer wouldn’t just run and put this to bed will never not be maddening to me
hard not to conclude from this that if it was mcmorrow vs el-sayed 1v1 mcmorrow would crush him
The UK is really good at humiliating their politicians which is very funny
they're also right to make all the candidates stand on stage together on live TV when they announce the winner, but that's just bc it's funny
On which note: Whitmer would have won like 65% of the vote huh lol
I don’t think it is possible to misunderstand American politics any harder than this
