Democrats shouldn't be the party of anti-democratic power grabs and denying elections. Enough is enough. Our full statement:

Huge story breaking right now in NYC: BK Dems party boss Rodneyse Bichotte-Hermelyn announced that she's subverting the will of Brooklyn's voters (a majority of whom recently voted to change party leadership) by dramatically changing the rules in order to hang onto her position as party boss.
The DNC has about $16M in cash assets and about $19M in debts, including a line of credit on its own headquarters. DSA has a _surplus_ of $12M. Can the DSA just buy out the DNC?
apparently this brings our surplus to 12 million dollars, which is a little dizzying and *incredibly* well timed for AOC 2028 among other things
In yet another victory for nominative determinism, the best air quality in the greater NYC area appeara to be near Pleasantville and Valhalla.
the world falling apart sucks real bad, but it's amazing that New York somehow slipped into an Disney Channel Original Movie alternate reality where our problems are fixed by Mayor Socialism and the Power of Friendship wins basketball championships.
My mayor is Muslim My bagel is Jewish Christ is alive! KNICKS IN FIVE
"Welcome to Mohawk and Hudson Railroad Takes, what's your take?" "The degraded Black Irish swarming into our fair cities of New York and Brooklyn from their wretched Papish isle to take jobs and apartments from the Anglo-Saxons who grew up here shall never be real New Yorkers." "100% agree"
If the Knicks win the finals this year we're ripping this down with our bare hands
Just published my notes from this year's Python Packaging Summit at PyCon US. If you've ever been curious what one of these is like from the inside: Wheel 2.0 + Zstandard, PyPI abuse vectors, conda vs pip, nab as a pip-resolver candidate. 🐍📦 bernat.tech/posts/pycon-... #PyConUS

Also what's up with CB1 Chair Tammy Meltzer asking DOT to AVOID Chambers St, even though the CB1 full board resolution speaks to the importance of a direct route? The full resolution speaks even MORE to the issues of other streets: web.miniextensions.com/api/public-a...
With super speeders like this, our families are at risk of dying, too! New York State legislators (I'm looking at you Carl Heastie), please help us allby passing the Stop Super Speeders Act (S4045/A2299) in the budget!
The current 12-game Jeopardy champion works at an affordable housing finance agency in NJ, and shamed New York for not building more housing: "NJ's doing really well, we're ahead of NY, CT, PA. If you're from one of those states, shame on you, build more housing."
Someone said something about ingesting libc and this is what popped into my head
If you want to read the transcript of the February 3 hearing where Julie Le had her "this job sucks" meltdown, now you can: drive.google.com/file/d/1FnY2...
This is unreal. An AUSA talking like that in open court is about as close as you can come to a total breakdown. Never heard of anything like it.
>looking for a new enterprise contract >ask the microsoft sales rep if their SaaS is azure or copilot >she doesnt understand >pull out illustrated diagram explaing what is azure and what is copilot >she laughs and says “it’s a good SaaS sir” >sign the contract >its copilot

let's take a moment to appreciate what this goofy city council mailer is really saying: we can't get transit upgrades, parks, school upgrades etc unless a condo developer is involved.
NYC: Vote YES on ballot props 2-4. We at DSA' Social Housing campaign @housethefuture.bsky.social support them to move affordable and social housing along at the city AND state levels.
Love to have an early voting electorate bigger than the population of Denver (h/t @ldpreload.com)
Early voting is complete in New York City! What we know: 735,317 people have voted. That's more than four times the early total in 2021, and it's 67.5% of the early voting total in 2024.
It's true! Many DSA members and @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social supporters *also* support questions 2-4! At the 41-minute mark in this segment, you can hear me and @aschierenbeck.bsky.social on the Brian Lehrer show on @wnyc.org discussing why these are pro-labor proposals: www.wnyc.org/story/the-ho...

You couldn't ask for a better endorsement of Ballot Props 2-5 than Sliwa going on an unhinged rant about them. Is Adrienne Adams still sure she wants to hitch her wagon to that sinking ship?
GOP nominee Curtis Sliwa says he opposes City of Yes and ballot props 2-5, which he says will "take away your homes and provide you with lithium ion batteries, which are like mini-Chernobyls" Fact check: False. They won't do that, but they will make your rent more affordable.
You can only upzone one region of NYC for the rest of your life. Which one are you choosing?
New York City calls itself a refuge for queer and trans Americans, but that promise is at risk if we don't take on the housing crisis head on. Read my op-ed about the need to build more housing to reduce rents, in this case, via the OneLIC project: gaycitynews.com/new-york-rem...
For New York to remain a queer haven, we must build more homes
People move to New York because they believe in certain promises: a place where you’re free to be yourself, to thrive, and to find community. Especially for

Apparently London has both a “Mayor of London” (does normal mayor stuff) and a “Lord Mayor of London” (does civic events in costumes) and like, not to hand it to England, but I think I’ve figured out what we can do with Eric Adams
