Happy Juneteenth, everyone!! There aren't many national holidays I feel good about anymore, but today is definitely the big one.
I had a similar experience with my gender transition. All the sadness and discomfort and abuse that I endured and DIDN'T NEED TO.... it lands on you like a ton of bricks.
rahaeli@rahaeli.bsky.social · 2mo agoLike Nome, I started meds late (age 43 for me) and I will also warn you that after you take your first dose of the med that works for you (which is not always the first med you try!) it is very common to have an utter meltdown over how fucking long it took and how long you were struggling!

why did you transition, right answers only Y'all kept posting before-and-after pictures and the wave of longing that swept through me was something I couldn't ignore. What would it be like to intentionally make a "me" that I loved? I finally couldn't wait any more to find out.

I walked by this Minneapolis church today and it sparked a memory. A few years ago I went with a friend to see @assignedmale.bsky.social speak about THE TRANS AGENDA (ie, "a normal lifespan") at this church. I bought a book, and when I went up to ask her to inscribe it I was TOTALLY TONGUE TIED. 1/
The best damn burger I've ever had was at a place called Cured, now sadly closed. It was served on a metal rimmed tray with a piece of butcher paper. Plain bun and a bare patty and it was A REVELATION.

I am enough of an institutionalist that I still generally believe that the facts reported by "old media" are factual, while saving my skepticism for what they choose to report or not. But this is gross. Clear and convincing evidence of an editorial double standard. Just 🤮🤮🤮.

That girl with the posts@roodypatooti.bsky.social · 4mo agoIt's weird that chuds still say "red-pilled" to refer to their beliefs considering it should be common knowledge that the actual red pill in the matrix scene is meant to represent estrogen. Neo picking it over the blue pill (prozac) is a metaphor for choosing transition instead of repression.
Discovering I was demi (in my early 40s) explained a LOT about my life up to then. It was seriously one of those "wait, the rest of y'all don't feel like this?!" moments.

The second "p" in "apoptosis" is silent. Ah-puh-TOE-sis. It's the Greek prefix "apo" (away) and the Greek root "ptosis" (falling). The p in "ptosis" is silent for the same reason the p in pterodactyl is silent.
