Pleased to see Tories are still incapable of learning the lesson that “ending the war on motorists” is not an election winning stance in London, which has the highest walking & cycling rates, lowest car ownership & best public transport of anywhere in Britain. It’s like they don’t know any of this

My Spanish champion is Pontevedra Mayor Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores, who kicked cars out of city center: “It's not my duty as mayor to make sure you have a parking spot. It's the same as if you bought a cow, or fridge, and then ask me where you're going to put them.”

Decades ago, I supported mandatory helmet laws for people riding bikes. Then I was convinced by evidence and the bigger picture that such laws are actually counter-productive in many ways. This NZ article explains some. I support helmets, but not mandatory helmet laws. Build safe infrastructure.

Legislation to enable local leaders to prohibit pavement parking in England has been included in the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill. Some of our supporters have been telling us what new freedoms this will bring them.

Yes this! Exactly the problem here in rural Leicestershire. A network of paths between villages is needed otherwise they are cut off and car dependent. Yet it is sooo difficult and slow to create them. I have been fighting for 5 years for a small section of dismantled railway & expect a few more.
