It's that people see them reading and writing and reasoning and scheming and they realize that the stochastic-parrots framing is outdated and inadequate to the moment
IMO it's esp egregious when doctors leverage their credibility to demand robotaxis while ignoring other street safety measures that are effective, reliable, and affordable. They risk eroding public trust in health care professionals.(This guy is also a VC partner FYI.)

In most places - particularly in the US - there has been chronic underinvestment in public transit, in large part because of lobbying efforts by automobile and fossil fuel companies.
