Marc Rosenblum, Trump admin DHS leader, has resigned. “I’m thrilled to end my relationship with the current administration. Between the war on immigrants, the war on feds, and the war on facts (not to mention the crazy war in Iran and the brazen corruption), I just need a change.”

“If universities oppose the actions of the administration, they need to say so quickly so that their constituents aren’t left wondering whether there’s a plan. The alternative is a community of university scientists adrift and grasping for a lifeline.” www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

University science in the US needs a coherent plan

The Trump administration continues to degrade America’s scientific establishment, causing widespread harm to the country’s broader interests and well-being. Last week, the Association of American Univ...

A simple but (I think) compelling re-analysis of a paper that Director Bhattacharya frequently cites in his talks to claim that NIH-funded researchers no longer pick up the newest ideas. Dr. Bishop concludes the opposite using the same data. The original conclusion was contrary to my experience.

Further analysis of Packalen & Bhattacharya article, where they claimed #NIH-funded research was slow to pick up on new ideas. I argue that their approach is flawed, and I present an analysis that shows the exact opposite. pubpeer.com/publications...

This combination, two days apart, will serve for future historians as an effective shorthand for the lunacy of the moment.

Todd Blanche is violating federal law by covering up the Epstein files. Rather than confirming him as attorney general, the Senate ought to demand his prosecution.

Reminder that ICE whistleblowers have been warning for months that the agency's Trump-era hiring surge has led to dangerous recruits being given alarming levels of power. Watch.

The acceptance of those in the DC club of evil because its proponents were pleasant to them at cocktail parties is one of the problems with our establishment. Morality takes a back seat to the conviviality of their pampered bubble lives. An evil man who could tell or laugh at a joke is still evil.

I did not need to wake up to Claire McCaskill on MSNow scolding us all to be "charitable" to Lindsey Graham because he was a "good man." No, he wasn't. He was the fascists' handmaiden.

The OMB rule would codify this uncertainty, making termination a constant threat to all federally funded science. Your field might be safe now, but this rule would allow the admin to stop any line of research that becomes politically inconvenient. Posting below resources on where/how to comment.

I see this often among my grantees. Uncertainty about maintaining funding on a grant (even thought it has been found meritorious in peer review, high priority in programmatic review, and was already awarded) makes conducting the science extremely challenging. substack.com/@27unihted/n...

Since Trump took office, Wisconsinites are paying $3,000 more in a year for necessities while over 45,000 of them have lost healthcare. Rep Van Orden and Rep Bryan Steil have stood by and allowed this. They have to go in November.
