🚨 BREAKING: Jericho Wharf, by the Oxford Canal, has been sold to Worcester College. The site has been derelict for 20 years. Worcester says it is “committed to bringing the site back into productive use through a carefully considered redevelopment that respects its heritage”.
Let's hope they hadn't started building, or they'd have to do some Unhalfbricking.

Cherwell District Council said the proposal “fails to recognise the character and beauty of the countryside, and is unsympathetic to the landscape of the Oxford Canal corridor”.

Oxford City Council has provided further information on the closure of these riverside paths. As well as the closure at Grandpont, construction work will occupy Oxpens Meadow. The official closure is until next summer but with the hope of completion by March. www.oxford.gov.uk/building-pro...
Oxford Clarion@oxfordclarion.bsky.social · 3w agoSeparately, the cycle/footpaths alongside the Thames at Grandpont Nature Park will be closed by the City Council from August until the spring, for construction works for the new Oxpens Bridge. The riverside path provides an alternative route to Botley Road. A “dirt path” diversion will be available.

Ray Jackson, the Lindisfarne musician who played the famous mandolin solo on Rod Stewart’s hit Maggie May, has bought a rare £2,800 instrument from Oxfam’s Abingdon shop – celebrating with an impromptu performance. Jackson collects mandolins and still has the instrument he played on Maggie May.
