Something you need to understand about political reporting is that the Evil Dem Consultants you all rightly hate are often the best sources for the Beltway media, and they all have deep, abiding relationships with those journalists. What they lack in party power they make up for by shaping coverage.

Rode* The ride is over, she can't even fill high school gyms anymore. But she did make good cash while the going was good though.
She really thought she was going to ride his death to the big time. She will probably grift her way along and do just fine for herself, but she clearly thought she'd Made It when he died. Welp.
From what I remember, Kirk had a genuinely powerful GOTV machine.
yep, he was a political talent in a way that nobody in his orbit was and it’s why “strike me down and I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine” generally doesn’t hold true (the same will hold when It finally Happens) sometimes it really is just the power of one guy
on the other hand, both the screaming Piker bros and Chait think that the most important thing is that whichever faction they prefer on the Israel fight controls the Democratic Party and they see electoral victory as secondary those people aren't on either team really, and they suck
The failure to let the colonised go is the cardinal sin of the Soviet Union, more than dissolving the constituent assembly, more than setting up the Cheka. They refused us the only thing we wanted: control over our own fates.
Luigi stans: “everything is murder except actual murder which is based”
“But Dana, if the Dems want my vote they could just be better.” No they couldn’t, because doing good things has no bearing at all on what people say about them. Biden did progressive thing after progressive thing for four years, and the entire left ignored it and, where necessary, lied about it.
Progressives weren't the ones who cast the decisive votes for Trump or chose to stay home. Those were the racists and misogynists. Progressives spent a lot of time gloating about her defeat, however. Like if they really were the ones who did it.
>Progressives helped cause the defeat of the Democrats in 2024. no, that was Biden and Harris running a terrible campaign. you guys quite literally bragged that you didn't need their votes and would win without them
The infamous hair sniff picture was actually Biden trying to comfort his granddaughter. She was Beau Biden's daughter and the picture was taken at his funeral.
How many times did they try and make a freeze frame into "Joe Biden the Sex Creep"? While simultaneously still downplaying "grab them by the pussy"?
There isn't enough alarm about Piker's fondness for mass murdering dictators either.
I really believe that having a massive oversupply of housing would be a game changer in so many abusive relationships
Imagine your town - now imagine there’s a place in can go that is always leasing, where a 1 bedroom apartment is always available. Imagine the leverage you gain over your landlord, or parents, or abusive partner in that scenario
I still can’t stop thinking about Cesar Chavez. Everyone rightfully said fuck him, and Chavez has success to his name. Why the fuck does Platner deserve any loyalty other than the fact he’s a white guy?
Things the 2024 election stands for: DO NOT end intractable quagmire wars DO NOT love your son through thick and thin DO NOT choose inflation over unemployment in hard economic times DO NOT raise wages for the lower working class DO NOT take responsible public health measures in a time of plague
like, just imagine the reverse—if a group within the party was going online every day to urge people to allow republicans to win if aoc got the nomination, how would you feel about them? ok, that's how people feel about you
"White moderate" translates a little better to today as "reactionary centrist" than "center-left lib"
pst the left were a huge part of this movement becoming a fucking joke. Because worse than not caring if women were actually raped, you thought it would be really exciting to leverage women who definitely weren't raped for your own political ends.
right. "Believe women" meant "don't dismiss them out of hand, take them seriously and investigate their claims" and they were! Reade's claims were investigated and it turns out she was a serial liar and the claims were almost certainly bullshit oops
Democratic AGs wouldn’t have to sue so much if Trump didn’t break the law so often. 100+ lawsuits and counting – and Dem AGs are winning 80% of the time.
The term rootless cosmopolitan as a slur for Jews goes back to Stalin. 1967 was a watershed for non-Soviet radical left (e.g. Trotskyites), though.
It was a little later, the 67 war coincided with the soviets realizing communism had failed and turning to Russian nationalism
fun fact: two years after Manchin won in West Virginia, a left wing populist ran on this exact platform… and lost to a corporate Republican by 40 points the conservative white working class doesn’t vote for wealth distribution. they are temporarily embarrassed billionaires who love daddy Trump
There’s a kind of guy who loves the idea that ordinary conservatives actually care about “fighting billionaires” and I think it’s laughable. They keep voting to make your life worse because their politics are that they don’t like you, not because they’re under the spell of a trickster political god.
"Accelerationism cannot fail. It can only make life not quite awful enough for people less privileged than myself."
If John brown were alive today, he would’ve voted for Kamala and then patiently waited for the next election before doing anything
John Brown would have voted for Kamala Harris with pride, knowing that not only are Black people human but also worthy of holding office. Brown violently hated slavery for how it dehumanized African Americans and often involved them in his plots.
If John brown were alive today, he would’ve voted for Kamala and then patiently waited for the next election before doing anything
Functionally? Yes. I saw some polling that the non-voters would have gone for Trump, too. But you can't gloat about how you helped defeat Harris and how she deserved to lose and then smol bean your way out.
‘She lost therefore she’s bad’ is how memes work, not election analysis. She lost bc of about a thousand structural reasons including a global rise in social media driven populism and a media that blamed the inflation narrative on democrats rather than on who started it.
Biden directed most of the IRA money to Republican states. Who did they vote for again? Why should the Democrats help the people who would rather die than get help from us?
Is it any wonder why Democrats don’t do well against Republicans when they’re running neck and neck with Trump with who’s the more arrogant of the two? They cannot handle the reality that the Democratic Party has made substantial mistakes and it has caused them votes
Reminder that post debate polling showed Trump lost the debate to Harris by the same margin he won the debate against Biden — but no avalanche of stories calling for Trump to step down, in fact media did "stop the presses" coverage of a "stopped at the gate" assassin to drive it from the news
One bad debate performance is all it takes for a Dem to be ruled incompetent and driven from office.
