Something you need to understand about political reporting is that the Evil Dem Consultants you all rightly hate are often the best sources for the Beltway media, and they all have deep, abiding relationships with those journalists. What they lack in party power they make up for by shaping coverage.

on the other hand, both the screaming Piker bros and Chait think that the most important thing is that whichever faction they prefer on the Israel fight controls the Democratic Party and they see electoral victory as secondary those people aren't on either team really, and they suck

“But Dana, if the Dems want my vote they could just be better.” No they couldn’t, because doing good things has no bearing at all on what people say about them. Biden did progressive thing after progressive thing for four years, and the entire left ignored it and, where necessary, lied about it.

Progressives weren't the ones who cast the decisive votes for Trump or chose to stay home. Those were the racists and misogynists. Progressives spent a lot of time gloating about her defeat, however. Like if they really were the ones who did it.

>Progressives helped cause the defeat of the Democrats in 2024. no, that was Biden and Harris running a terrible campaign. you guys quite literally bragged that you didn't need their votes and would win without them

I still can’t stop thinking about Cesar Chavez. Everyone rightfully said fuck him, and Chavez has success to his name. Why the fuck does Platner deserve any loyalty other than the fact he’s a white guy?

Things the 2024 election stands for: DO NOT end intractable quagmire wars DO NOT love your son through thick and thin DO NOT choose inflation over unemployment in hard economic times DO NOT raise wages for the lower working class DO NOT take responsible public health measures in a time of plague

like, just imagine the reverse—if a group within the party was going online every day to urge people to allow republicans to win if aoc got the nomination, how would you feel about them? ok, that's how people feel about you

pst the left were a huge part of this movement becoming a fucking joke. Because worse than not caring if women were actually raped, you thought it would be really exciting to leverage women who definitely weren't raped for your own political ends.

right. "Believe women" meant "don't dismiss them out of hand, take them seriously and investigate their claims" and they were! Reade's claims were investigated and it turns out she was a serial liar and the claims were almost certainly bullshit oops

Democratic AGs wouldn’t have to sue so much if Trump didn’t break the law so often. 100+ lawsuits and counting – and Dem AGs are winning 80% of the time.

fun fact: two years after Manchin won in West Virginia, a left wing populist ran on this exact platform… and lost to a corporate Republican by 40 points the conservative white working class doesn’t vote for wealth distribution. they are temporarily embarrassed billionaires who love daddy Trump

There’s a kind of guy who loves the idea that ordinary conservatives actually care about “fighting billionaires” and I think it’s laughable. They keep voting to make your life worse because their politics are that they don’t like you, not because they’re under the spell of a trickster political god.

‘She lost therefore she’s bad’ is how memes work, not election analysis. She lost bc of about a thousand structural reasons including a global rise in social media driven populism and a media that blamed the inflation narrative on democrats rather than on who started it.
