This is just to say... I have stolen the work that you spent years creating and which you were probably hoping would pay your bills But online sharing doesn't count It's actually a compliment So fuck you BTW, I'm a fan

"The atmosphere, the earth, the water & the water cycle-those things are good gifts. The ecosystems, the ecosphere, those are good gifts. We have to regard them as gifts because we couldn't make them. We have to regard them as good gifts because we couldn't live without them." -Wendell Berry #RIP

Tall slender moss covered trees on a misty morning with filtered sunlight. Bramble covers the ground and there is no trail...smack dab in the middle of the forest

The CEO of Warners thought it would be better to bury it and take a tax writeoff after the film was completed rather than try to get it in front of audiences. Luckily he came to his fucking senses but still a parable of shitty Hollywood behaviour in a nutshell 2/2

I'm just gonna throw out there: I have lost work, not because the people who would normally hire me are using gAI, but because Google forced it into search, completely cannibalizing the audience for my work you don't have to be in a position to hire someone to reject using gAI in favor of humans

The amount of working artists I've spoken to who are losing or have lost the ability to make a viable career out of it due largely to people's use of genAI instead of hiring artists is genuinely so upsetting. We won't know what we've lost until it's gone.

The world we are moving towards is designed by people of kind, who so long as they are the ones with the money and the power, have no problem impoverishing the rest of us. the question is how to wrestle control of the world back from the hands of these greedy sociopaths 2/2

A few months back I was at a @google run event shilling AI. On stage a startup guy Crowes that the day of the “two employee unicorn” was near. I wasn’t sure what that meant so I looked it up. It’s a company worth a billion with only two humans working for it. This was presented as a good thing 1/2

We went to see Coyote Vs. Acme. It's very funny but they keep calling the coyote, whose name is Wile E. Coyote, 'Wiley'. Which is maddening. It's like if you were watching a movie about JFK and everyone kept calling him Johneff.

Here's Amazon's two new planned fossil-fuelled AI data centres next to the ENTIRE POWER GRIDS OF SEVERAL LARGE COUNTRIES Together, the two gas-burning data centres will emit more than Spain's entire grid, if built

Bar chart comparing 2025 national grid CO2e emissions (grey bars) with two Amazon fossil‑fuelled AI data centres (red bars), showing the Amazon sites at about 33 and 17.5 megatonnes CO2e—higher than many countries' entire power grids.

The *same* people that told you not to worry about climate change because it wasn’t real now tell you yeah it’s real but it’s too late so accept your fate. They were wrong then that there was nothing to worry about, and they were wrong now that there is nothing we can do.
