Trans, mother and housespouse, early 40s. If you followed me because of a meme or I had something nice to say about Peter S. Beagle, I apologize with tongue in cheek; you'll find me dubious company. Mostly here for the musicians, artists and sex workers.

A thought for trans lesbians who have these fears— Remember that the sense that you're eternally spoiled by a link to maleness is informed by the logic of transfeminized debt, which says trans women need to be constantly making up for our (supposedly) inherent defects, including "maleness"

"if i [lesbian] like female characters Too much or talk or make stuff about them Too much what if other people think i am a misogynist or a freak or no better than a straight man" let them

You could hardly design a job better suited to draw abusers. Unchecked power over people no one will believe, and almost no chance of a consequence. So it draws the very men you should fear, and then it shields them. Senior agency officials bragged for years about their own sexual misconduct.

I think about Berthold Brecht's "To Those Who Follow in Our Wake" a lot lately. And, as someone in the replies was surely also paraphrasing, Oliveira's words in the wake of the Pulse massacre. (I bet Bsky will be as uncooperative as ever with these images.)

Transcript of the third and last part of a poem, translated from Bertholt Brecht.
III

You, who shall resurface following the flood
In which we have perished,
Contemplate —
When you speak of our weaknesses,
Also the dark time
That you have escaped.

For we went forth, changing our country more frequently than our shoes
Through the class warfare, despairing
That there was only injustice and no outrage.

And yet we knew:
Even the hatred of squalor
Distorts one’s features.
Even anger against injustice
Makes the voice grow hoarse. We
Who wished to lay the foundation for gentleness
Could not ourselves be gentle.

But you, when at last the time comes
That man can aid his fellow man,
Should think upon us
With leniency.

—Bertolt Brecht, An die Nachgeborenen first published in Svendborger Gedichte (1939) in: Gesammelte Werke, vol. 4, pp. 722-25 (1967)(S.H. transl.)Social media posts by meakoopa responding to a post where Josh Barro complains, "I think this is unfair. It is not weird to oppose gay marriage and also be horrified by the murder of gay people." Meakoopa quote-tweets, "Oh sorry if we are being unfair, unfortunately you guys murdered all the nice gays and now there's just us: the assholes. The queers who were nice/patient/gentle all got shot or bullied to death, all that's left are me and the other pissed-off cockroach motherfuckers."

over the last 10 years of increasing discrimination and demonization of trans people, I have watched so many trans friends and acquaintances become angrier & more bitter, just as I have also become. that's what years of hate thrown at you will do to you.

Put another way, the entire adult userbase is going to have to upload their IDs to sketchy third-party companies and link their identities to their online activity to stop a few dozen kids from accessing a platform that is mainly left-leaning news and commentary. What problem is this solving?

BREAKING: U.K. reveals Bluesky will be included in the under-16 social media ban, affecting dozens of teens.

(Repost from Mastodon: ) If I had a nickel for every time a Sam Neill character fumbled a baddie named Claire, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

People say you can’t love others if you don’t love yourself, but that’s not true Everyone has times when they can’t love themselves. Even then, you can still love someone else deeply If you can’t love yourself right now, please don’t worry One day, you’ll be able to love both yourself and others🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

I still intend to mostly move to other platforms, but I have reasons to keep using Discord while I'm able. Fluxer, Stoat and IRC are all options.

For those of you might be aware : Discord might be adding age verification. So far, two alternatives have been found. Option A : ageman.pages.dev (uses Gman from Half Life 2 for the verification) Option B : github.com/promptpirate... (a GitHub pluggin that completely bypasses it)
